Leviticus 18: In Leviticus 18:22 it is written:

"Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable." (NIV)

In and of itself, it seems very clear. But look at the surrounding context, and something more comes to bear on this verse.

I think in that part of the bible concerninc Sodom, Lot offered up his daughters to be raped by the villagers, who I think had men and women amonghst them, unless it is not specific. The angels themselves were genderless. Marshal and the others could answer the more specifics.

Regardless, I was under the impression that homosexual acts are what are warned against for adherents of Islam.

okay, the verse is in 1 Corinthians 6:9, it's in New international version

"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitues nor homosexual offenders 10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will in herit the kingdom of God."

the New King James version is a bit fuzzy "9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, (<- weren't the people at that time only addressed to the man, so i think this means basically the same thing as homosexual offenders)

I didn't mean reading Greek. I meant knowing what on earth some of that stuff meant. (I'm assuming that by "original translation" "original version" was meant.) Asking a Greek scholar for a black-and-white, iron-clad definition of what arsenokoites meant is like asking one of the Garriot brothers for the key to the Origin Systems executive washroom.

Because while the Bible doesn't clearly say anything about homosexuality, it does say that sex outside of marriage is wrong. Therefore opposing gay marriage essentially forces homosexuals to live in sin, which isn't something a Christian should do.
