Well, perhaps He did not change His mind. Rather, then, He planned to use Christ all along, as the Prophets foretold, and it was all in His plan.

I suppose when I say "Change mind" I mean "think ahead"? I don't really know how to explain it... But I think the Laws were guides to keep the Israelites safe, healthy, and populated. Then Christ came along and the Israelites no longer needed those Laws.

In regards to your quotation from Genesis, I would have to say that when God regretted, repented, or whatever the heck translation you have ( blaugh ), that it's simply anthropomorphic. mrgreen But, besides that, this was what I stated to the fellow I am discussing with. God was, before the laws were. God is, of course, the Law-giver (Isa. 33:22). And I would have to say that the laws presented are actually ways in which we see God's own attributes, such as holiness, justice, love, kindness, grace, et cetera. But, I believe that the simplist way to present how God could be immutable, yet the laws be mutable is that before any of this occurred, God had not given the laws to Moses. It's not easy to describe, but I do recall reading in one of John Calvin's commentaries on this issue.

Hmm. As much as I am pro gay marriage, I really don't think that being against it makes you a bad Christian.

Regardless of one's opinion on homosexuality, it is VERY unchristian to look down upon homosexuals (or anyone else) or treat them as inferior on a personal basis. There is no denying that.

However, given that the Bible never says that homosexuality is a sin, it never condones it either. Thus leaving it to us to determine whether it is right or wrong. Also, if this quote from the first post is true:

"marriage is a legal term, and does not mean "Christian partnership" or any other such nonsense"

then it is also up to people to define marriage, and pass laws accordingly. Therefore, it would probably be best to remove the issue of religion from the gay marriage debate completely, and whatever stance someone may take on the subject should not determine whether they are a good or a bad Christian.

And can you prove homosexuality is a sexual immorality? Or, at least, that homosexual sex is? Even Leviticus doesn't ban lesbian sex.
