Welcome to Gaia! ::

Toga! Toga!
Your religion didn't even hold the first marriages.

According to my (and several other religions), the first marriage was ordained by God for one man and one woman.

So sure, my religion in particular didn't hold the first marriage. However, I believe that my religion was instituted by the same God Who ordained that first marriage, and is in the constant prescence and guidance of that God.

Kindly remind YHWH of that fact in 2 Samuel 12.

All prayers go to the Saints, the Holy Mother, or the priest. Only the Lord's Prayer is a direct prayer, and means as much to most people as the Pledge does to high schoolers.

Prove that.

Quote:
Oh? So if you don't do Last Rites, you go to hell, hm? I'm talking you're non-"Mortal" sins. The only "mortal" sin is not accepting Christ's gift.

You have a piss poor understanding of Catholic doctrine.

The Catholic faith deviates from the Scriptures to an extreme.

Prove that.

Step 1: Read the Bible.

Step 2: Go to Mass.

Step 3: Use your brain.

That is only heresy to the Catholic Church.

That's like saying, "Why should we care what Adam thinks about selling the house, after all, it ONLY belongs to Adam?"

So Catholics own the definition of what is heretical or not?

Wow. Let's not hear what God hasta say, no.

Oh, wait... that's right. The Holy See is infallible... Which is why the next Holy See can say the previous one was wrong? Wait, that ain't right...

Mind giving the actual quote? The online bible I generally use has an incredibly odd naming system.

Okay, this didn't answer the question yoy conveniently cut out. Despite what you believe, what makes that so special that it must be the only form of legal union in existence?

If you wish to push relgiion into teh government, can the opposite be true? Should you have to pay a church tax or have King/President-appointed Popes?

Argument from silence.

I'd certainly say so.

Name 1 prayer that doesn't.

Besides, that's what you had just said. I mentioned Last Rites, you said, "No, you don't go to Purgatory, you go straight to hell." And then started spouting your Mortal sin bullshit. Show me a Bible verse that defines 3 mortal sins. Or 7 deadly sins.

Cliff notes: The passage where God tells David, through Samuel that "I gave your master's house to you, and your master's wives into your arms. I gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more."

Now, if you will excuse me, I have services tomorrow. I can't be up until ungodly hours at the night griping at a Papal Boot Licker who never so much as argues as says "i'm still right" to all opposition. *spares you the polemics for tonight.*

How about the Chaplet of Divine Mercy?

You want proof? Let's see...

Matthew 12:31, NIV
And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.

And thus Jesus said.

Sorry, I forgot. Repeating "Oh God, have mercy on us" counts as a direct prayer. We'll ignore the whole "You hafta talk to a priest for your sins to be forgiven" thing.

Really? That's funny... You see, the Catholic Church told me something different, just a tad. You know, they just said something along the lines of "Mortal sins are a straight ticket to hell." Not too far off, though, from what you said.

A priest is alter Christi and in the sacrament of confession is persona Christi.

Comparison of indulgences for instance to the Scriptures. Such a thing was blasphemous.

I'm glad you aren't doing that anymore but the list is still too big for comfort.

Lemme grab a bible and pull up my materials on Canon of the Catholic Church.

I'll make you a nice big list if Loki doesn't beat me too it (he's already ahead too... crying )

Keep in mind, heresy is a crime against "the Church", considering the schism and all, "The Church" could mean a wide variety of different sects.

The Catholic Church is not the end all be all of Christianity. Far from it.

You're using an online bible.
