the word wig does sound a little odd.. but I have a remedy for that
instead of wigs, it really would just stay a style.
People have hair, but they can style it however they want. Many people do that, like a girl has it down one day, in pig tails the next, and braids some other day. Hair is constantly changing in real life, yet it doesn't mean you are losing your hair every time. So it doesn't necessarily have to be a 'wig'. as for an answer to color changing, people use dyes all the time. :3
