Welcome to Gaia! ::

Maybe I'm just young and naive, but after much thought, I have considered money to be the root of all evil. So, if money ALL over the world would be completely gotten rid of, do you think that the world would be a better place?

Nobody would really be poor, would they? I mean, everything would be free and maybe people can focus on what they really want to do in life instead of working at some stupid job just to make a quick buck and pay bills...

Does anyone feel the same way?
Why was my first thought "Communism?"
That whole who gets what thing? Get what you want. Things will be made eventually by the people who love to make them. (Yes, they do exist.)

Like I said...there isn't enough for everyone to get what they want. How do you decide who gets what they want? I envision...much more rampant thievery and corrupt...ness...than we have now.
Why would there be people stealing things when there's no point in stealing it? It's FREE.

Hehe, you're not the only one. The principle sounds to me like a simplified version of the whole "equal share in everything, everything belongs to the state" etc business. In theory, awesome, in practice, famine.

Probably because...Communism at it's heart was trying for the same exact thing.

They'd steal it because since it's FREE, everyone else has already taken it and there's none left. And they want it.
Yes, I think Communism fell into the wrong hands. If we can take a good look at it and "fix" it, maybe we could have something good going on. And my idea isn't "everything belongs to the state", but everything belongs to whomever gets it. Or everything belongs to everyone.
One: No incentive to work. (or not enough people who want to. Yes, people who like to make things do exist...but they are far far outnumbered.)
Two: Money IS actually good. Money is a quick and efficient way to buy something you need even if you don't have any barter goods to trade for it. If everything was free and you didn't need to trade...see point one.
Three: Money smells good.
Well, it would be bad, because unless the government (which due to lack of money may not even exist) limited people's product intake, people would hoard everything and end up with ultimate excess, and everyone would fight over things. The people who didn't stand a chance getting any products would probably die off or have to end up stealing from the people who got more stuff, and there would be total chaos.
If you wanted to kill someone and steal all their s**t, it would be esy because you could get weapons and the like without paying for them. The few that survive would thrive on what's left and start their own civilization, and decide they're going to correct the mistakes of their forefathers by creating a trade system.
i don't know but i am very sure that my husband would have a load to say about it. but as for me i guess i would have to say that it might be nice but it will never be perfect. someone will always complain but bartering is definatly nice.
