Thank you! I really hate Bella in the fact that she's a leech. And it doesn't have to be real (as in, real in real life) It's a book.

Oh, also, if you leave your person to do whatever they want, thats not really careing is it? Perhaps he thought it was good for her, which is what he thought. Remember at the prom, he didn't want her to loose human activities for him.

(I love debateing peacefully! ((key word there, peacefully))
Peace ist gut<3 (That's the, uh, German "gut" BTW, not the other kindXD)

You're right, you can't just let them do whatever and not care, but you can not make their decisions for them. Talk about their decisions. Be interested in their descisions. But most of all, respect their descisions. It is not up to Edward to make her do "human" things if that's not what she wants him to do.
rolleyes why you would be so concerned about something like this is beyond me.

hmm...

Thanks for that wonderful contribution to the conversation rolleyes
Even with all that bad stuff... I still love him. It's kind of weird, but I have a certain kind of love for guys like him.... creepy, I know.

Oh and if you don't like him, how come you care so much to point that out? Just cuz you don't like him doesn't mean we don't have to. I praise Stephenie Meyer for making her book so popular that even silly threads must be made to say how bad it is when you can just ignore it and not read it so many times that you are able to analyze it so accurately. Bravo.

Because we like thinking about things. Because we don't like hating things just because we misunderstand them. Because we think the fans don't think enough and are (for the most part) mindless zombies who, if shown actual indepth analyzations, might -le gasp!- use their brains. I will never understand the aversion you people have to thinking.

Yeah but I don't like to think too deeply about a love story, when I just want to enjoy it. Though if you're really going to bash a book, a young adults novel for that matter, I don't really think that you think too deeply about stuff. If I wanted to make in-depths analyzations, I would talk about The Great Gatsby or some other mandated junk they give us at school.
I think it's important for people to think about what they're reading, not just if people tell them to. I mean, thinking is what sets us apart from the rest of the living world, what makes us special! And yet we don't use those skills for the things we enjoy, only for school? How is that right? Our greatest gift is something we save only for credit? This saddens me.
Why do we even have to think about this book? What's there to think about? That we're looking up to an abusive boyfriend? It's a fictional character!!! I like to enjoy it and just think that this guy can do no wrong, but it doesn't mean I plan on making it my life's goal to be with someone like him. I prefer to enjoy it by what it is, a book, and not plan to make a philosophy out of what someone just saw in a dream. She wanted to have fun (S. Meyer) and so let her have it, but I think it's incredibly rude to just be saying bad stuff about it just because you disagree with her. It was for her enjoyment, and so I plan to enjoy it also.

I don't think Minari is saying that you have to critically anaylze every book you read and look at all its flaws. If you enjoy Twilight and New Moon for what they are, fun brain candy romances, then that's perfectly fine. It's the fans that take Twilight too far and use it as their ideal relationship and praise it as the best book ever without thinking about it that worry/annoy us. If everyone just read Twilight, enjoyed it, then walked away from it, threads like this wouldn't exist. But, unfortunately, we now have an enormous fan base of rabid, shrieking, brain-dead, Edward-crazed fangirls that give the reasonable fangirls a bad name and ruin the book for everyone else.
im a huge fan of the books

but the words "Edward Cullen" and "boyfriend" never stuck with me

i dont like his and bella's relationship at all

i've always liked that kid Jacob, though

You people? Way to generalize. Like I said, I absolutely love these threads because it inspires thought. But I still love Twilight and Edward, even if he's an abusive-boyfriend-*****.

I'm am sorry about that, but I was getting really angry and being acused of thinking about things. I did add a "for the most part" in there earlier, and I'd hoped that would do it. I really do appreciate the fan who enjoys thinking, so thank you.
though this is of little relavance, but my gf loves this book and my first name just happens to be Cullen xd
