I was obsessed with dbz when I was younger but kind of forgot about it for a few years before one day being bored out of my mind decided to crack open the manga- I was rehooked in MINUTES- no lie. Then I started rewatching the anime (and getting honestly pissed at how much they dumb down the series, especially Vegeta and Piccolo... still psychotically addicted though @.@)

Either way, I was a huge Goku fan until the buu saga (and my attainment of the budokai games) where I jumped into Vegeta's fandom and have stayed their happily every since (especially after reading the mangas), just cause he's a flawed jackass.

As for the live action movie......I had never experienced literal gut-retching anger until I found out about the vile pile bs and its innumerous offences to the series evil

I wish that the American dubbers had decided to keep the show designed for teens and above, like it was meant to be... but the Japanese voices still scare me a bit too much to actually watch it in Japanese, so I'm stuck with Funi.

Although, I do have to say that the anime does follow the manga very closely, which is unusual seeing as how old the manga is. (It was common play in the 80s, yes the anime is that old, to not follow the manga.)

Although, since they're re-releasing the manga in combined books, I'm compelled to collect the series all over again... and the ending might have the extended ending that Akira did in a re-release. *excitedly thinks about that*

Oh, and the season 6 box set is gonna be released on Sept. 16... for those who are interested.

DB was the coolest thing ever when I was in Elementary. If you didn't like DB, you sucked. So one day I watched it and I saw people flying. People flying!! Then I couldn't stop watching it.
Anywho,I do think the live-action movie is gonna suck. If there's something we've learned about the Street Fighter and Mortal Combat live-action movies is that, no matter how hard they try to make a 'cool, hip and fresh' plot, they fail! They crash and burn! And we can see this coming! And it's still gonna happen! And why do I think it'll suck? Here's a couple of reasons.

1. Goku is a cartoon. Not a cartoon based on a guy. Just a cartoon. There's no guy out there on Earth who will resemble him. And if he does, he must be weird/ ugly/ creepy/ etc. That's the thing about cartoons; no matter how ugly a guy can be, he stil has that 'fantasy' charm.
2. No Krillin! That's like...french fries without ketchup!
3. Goku...as a teenager...in highschool...unliked?! Forgive me but that is NOT even close to DB. Goku is only showed as a teenager before he was married. He never went to school since he lived alone in the mountains. And last, he wasn't unliked! Even Vegeta ended up liking him and they were enemies!
4. If live-action Goku sucks, then I got one word for you: Piccolo ._.;

As far as the movie, I guess it's ok. I'd rather watch the series than the movies. And I still don't see how they are gonna make another DBZ season. As far as I know, it ended up with Goku returning to Earth, Gohan dating Videl and Vegeta at peace with everyone. Then GT started with Gohan and Videl's daughter and Goku abandoning his family to go train. -/-; I never really liked that part. So they are gonna pick up from there? With Ub's training or Gohan's wedding or what? I just...don't see how that's gonna work.

And my favorite character would be Trunks/kid Trunks. He gets to travel in time, he has a sword, he has a cool jacket and on his childhoood year, he's a cool over-confident kid with an attitude that always gets in trouble with Goten. As time traveler, he's kinda cold and serious but he also cares about his future mother, friends and family. Then I guess it's Gohan, only because he defeated Cell and I never saw that coming! Not only did HE defeat Cell, but Goku, the main character, died! And then the story focused on his confusing and complicated college year. DX

So yeah, hopefully, they'll just try to pretend GT never happened for the next series. -/-;

i love dragonball z and now im just waiting for the 6th season to come out sense its taking its sweet time,and for my favorite it would have to be goku and vegeta cause well there both strong but goku is a softy handing out mercy and all to people or going easy on them but vegeta is tough and acts tough and stuff but sometimes he gets ahead of himself and acts like he doesnt need anyone, i mean it was sad when he was not listening to his own son but anyways and the moive ya i never heard of the plot till now but ya the plot sounds stupid but ill wait to see the trailers and im glad there comin out with another good one hopefully in 2010!w00t w00t. 4laugh

my girlfriend and I found something good about the movie coming out... finally.
They are bringing back the cards and action figures of the anime. And hopefully that's from the movie and not just the re-release's. Because if it's from the re-release of the DVD's then there is absolutely nothing good coming from the movie.

OH, and they're also re-releasing the manga!!! Viz is releasing special combined volumes that are 3 in one. The first 3 books of dbz and dragonball are out... and there's an added bonus! They've colored 2 chapters in each of the books! It's really something.

But there is a slight downside. Some of the pannels have been edited. (I own the original release of the series... all 42 books, so I'm able to compare). The ones that stick out are: 1. Bulma has 2 boob shots, and they've been covered (what? This is one of those really notable things...) 2. They altered the pic where Bulma's flicking off Emperor Pilaf (so she's not anymore. Stupid, right?) A couple words have been edited as well........... so in general, they tried to get rid of some of the pervertedness... but that failed miserably as later on in the novel, it's still in there.

dbz is way epic and my favorite characters are definitely picclo,goku,vegeta,trunks,and gohan.i think the movie is gonna be terrible it sounds so dumb goku in high school.....WTF!?!?!?!?!

The anime is hopefully gonna save itself though... as Tadashi probably pointed out, there's a new movie or OVA coming out in November. Fans have waited a long time for this, my only worry is that Akira Toriyama did not work with the animators on it... if so... my heart will break.
