If you want to go read something about modern vampires read the Night World series by L.J. Smith, the books actually have people who are battling with something and not just "how much we love eachother and how he's gonna eat me) and the VAMPIRES DRINK BLOOD!!!!!! and at the end of each book you want to know what going to happen to that person next, Tho the idea is based on love the author doesn't reinforce that idea 1,000,000,000,000 times on one page, and the characters actualy hate eachother at first. the books are from the '90s and they were the original books about "modern vampires"

I know I own them all and love them.
