Welcome to Gaia! ::

What about a background of big, minty green flowers behind the cog mural on the wall and a border of dancing cogs around the minty part or something like that?

Ooooooooooh, something else I just remembered, I absolutely love Chris Rose's wallpaper and rust custom Mad *Ls.

It could be nice to try a bit of that sort of rusty effect over the odd bit of the minty walls, which would add a bit of brown and make the whole place look a bit more mechanical and such (just don't overdo it).

I don't quite know how to phrase this, but do any you have experience wearing corsets over wrap around Asian themed tops or dresses?
I have a waist-cincher that years since I bought it I still don't have an outfit for it, one I sketched is based off of hanfu.

I've worn corsets over kimono many times, and it's always worked out beautifully. It's also quite common in walolita wear, which you may want to check out (if you haven't already) since you were talking about shortening the garments you're considering. 3nodding

The corset I use is an underbust Vollers corset, steel boned, so I'm not sure if a polyboned corset would work as well, since the fabrics can be rather heavy. I've never used a tie underneath the corset, either, for bruising reasons. I would suggest, if you want the tie accent, to tie /over/ the corset instead, and just use the corset to hold the garment in place.

Yay for incorporating non-European cultures into Steam!! 4laugh Do post pictures of your finished outfit. 3nodding

Cup o Spoilers
Thats very true.
I will have to look into some rugs with the blueish green in them. or on the brown wall have pictures hung with the same color in them. possibly curtains with some color too.
Once i have decorations in the the room i think it will tie together better too. in my little sketch it is all just the basics.
I agree Steampunk does seem to have a need for some color. Victorian times had a lot of color to it too.

Thanks!....i was struggling with how to make it flow a bit more. you helped a lot. X3

How about painting some scroll-ish designs over the brown wall in the same blue as the other walls, and then getting some brown Wallies (like these) and putting them on the blue walls, to tie them all together? Brown and light blue look lovely together.. and it's a popular colour combination again lately, so you should be able to find a lot of fabrics to make things from, too.. curtains, comforters, stuff like that. 3nodding

EDIT: Just found this one, which is a perfect example of the blue/brown thang... 4laugh

Haha your quite welcome <3

And yes @_@
Haha even in all of the candid photos I got of her when she was over here, she still looks gorgeous in every one of them! ;D
and even after her plane flight, of 10 hours or so, she still looked gorgeous. Dunno how she does it XD
Also, your supposed to give her a hard time about losing her accent ;D
I hope you did XD
hey! I'm pretty new to the steampunk thing but I adore every aspect of it. I've been researching the fashion as well as literature and music. It's amazing heart
Hi there smile I also think it's an interesting style, I especially got to know it through Doctor Who and Golden Compass (movie). Then recently at an anime convention, I saw a guy in steampunk cosplay walking on stilts xd He looked pretty interesting .)
Now I made my steampunk avi too, I got inspired by the monocle and the (unmissable) goggles. I wish there were more brown coats and clockwork stuff on Gaia or more cool steampunkish items like Time Piece. In everyday I didnt wear any of it (yet), like cosplay, self-made stuff etc. So I dont have anything steampunk in real I think... (yet?) Except for a kind of watch maybe sweatdrop

And for summarized general definition look it up on wikipedia if you'd like to, it's interesting smile Click here to get there.

Edit: Found 1 more movie that are or could be bit steampunkish: Dune (Lynch-version).
And: next time I see steampunk at animecon (next in my country is in October) I swear I'll take photos of it biggrin whee
Long time no see, true believers. Just passing through. heart
