I'm getting these goggles and I need to know the best thing to paint the silver metal bits into a brass/gold color. What kind of paint, etc., would you recommend? I don't want to risk experimenting with them because the red/black [at least I hope that's the color they'd come in, site is confusing] are my colors so they would be my nice goggles. XD

Well the outfit I said I am designing has been drawn, any comments? The small clock hands are being used on the bodice and the larget clockhands are being used on the top hat. The theme is clockworks ... hence the gears and hands ^^;;

@Kaiya: I would use Krylon spray paint. I've used it on art projects/scene painting for theatre. Super durable, dries fast, works on metal and comes in metallics. Just do a few coats to be sure it covers everything. Check around the site I gave there cause they have lots of stuff you could use. Their leafing pen could work too if it's not possible to remove the metal for spray painting.

@A Purple Ducky: I see you're planning to paint some gears on your skirt. I often use this tutorial for screen printing things like that. Looks professional but is pretty cheap.

Any idea on things I should change or add or anything?

I'm gonna embroider the cogs on the sheath. And i'm gonna make some cogs like this.

so any I can do to ramp up the steampunk factor, anything need changed, or is it good as is?

I didn't know Steam Punk was a category, I always confused it with Cybergoths/Industrial. I am educated! biggrin
hmm, does anyone know where one would purchase riding pants?

Is there a particular sort of store one would go to?

You might able to find them at like horse specialty stores or somewheres, I don't actually know.

You might even try an army surplus store. I know our surplus store has goggles to space bubble helmets.

Why is leather so necessary? Leather pants are ridiculously uncomfortable, even Fullmetal Alchemist cosplayers don't wear them rofl

But something like these maybe?
