mmmm Steampunk nihonto...

I thought I stumbled across a thread somewhere about a clockwork katana. I thought the idea was brilliant!

I envision something with distressed, antique-looking [faux] leather replacing the tsuka ito, maybe some kind of brass/antique-looking menuki/kashira, an antiqued saya [through paint, I guess] with gears and clockwork attached to it for decoration, and possibly a ribbon sageo with some gears and clockwork dangling off of it

erm, basically what im doing

im replacing the tsuba with a cog shaped one.

likely adding either a cog shaped hand guard, or a brake lever from a bike steamed up (think throttle for the clockwork)

the metal parts, the Kojiri, koiguchi and pommel (dunno its name) will all be sprayed brass.

the saya will likely be wrapped in a dark brown leather, unless i can expose its wood in which case its being stained and antiqued.

the tsuka is being stained and antiqued, and may add some kind of wrapping to it.

likely adding some victorian lace to the saya somewhere, just for an elegant touch.

unsure about a sageo yet.
