But, then again, I consider Firefly steampunk... so who knows...

ZOMG I'm not alone! When I first stumbled into this thread, that was, weirdly, one of the first things this style reminded me of. Firefly! And when you started putting together a "crew" of sorts, that came back into mind again! And ...yeah! heart

While SP is and extremely... broad and far-reaching subject, I've been told before that Firefly doesn't actually count. To which I say [excuse me] bullshit. It's just post-apocalyptic Steampunk, with a focus on the Old West region of America rather than Industrial Eastern America or Victorian England, with just a tiny hint of cyberpunk thrown in here and there. They also tell me FMA isn't Steampunk, which is ridiculous. It's just in an alternate universe. They are both two of my favorite Steampunk things. People are too picky. Way too picky.

*cheers* to the Browncoats!

And since I'm realizing how probably-impractical it'd be to wear full-out Victorian-style clothes day-to-day (especially in this freakin' Florida heat), I'm thinking I'm going to probably end up with a much more modern!steampunk. With like jeans or something, and tie it together with accessories...

lol Screw Florida heat. Florida heat doesn't own me! I'm wearing a scarf, coat, helmet, and layers to Metrocon in July!

In fact, I'm now adding that to the "things that prove you're completely off your rocker" thread on the BG forum...
I'm a big sucker for FMA, too. But I've never seen Firefly. It's a Joss Whedon, right?

You are correct! *throws you a cookie*

It's amazing in ways only Joss Whedon can create, but it was cursed with being assigned to Fox network and so was cancelled before the first season finished. The movie, Serenity, is all sorts of wicked awesomeness [and is actually the first thing I saw, in theaters, so you can certainly see it without running out the buy the whole series]. The movie was made to serve as sort of a proper ending for the series. Browncoats is code for Firefly/Serenity fans.

I can't think of a more Steampunk image than a girl mechanic all covered in engine grease, surrounded by gears all day, gazing wistfully at her "good dress". Maybe I'm projecting...
Lost count...

*cheers too*

Heee, it so is. Because it's not usually really anything super high-tech like Star Wars/whatever-style ships (at least, rarely, and pretty much in the central planets, yeah?), more focusing on the outskirts of civilization where it's totally lower-tech and probably has a lot of clockwork-type things (just... y'know, advanced sorts of clockwork...) and the like... stare

(Now I have an overwhelming need to go watch more Firefly. Heh.)

And the post-apocalyptic sort of steampunk is like the kind that I really like best, from what "research" I've been doing lately... It's neat, more possibilities with it (like my "modern!style" instead of the Victorian!style), I think... and it's definitely something I'd love to write. Seriously, there are ideas rooting themselves into my brain! *flail*

Oh yes... Entirely off your rocker indeed!

I'd die in even half of that... Seriously. I don't do well in the heat. I've been known to nearly pass out in 80 degree weather! burning_eyes ...Maybe I'm just pathetic. XD

Also, that looks neat, Ladette. Also I'm fond of the hat... XD

Well, Levi's have been around since around the 1850's, so jeans were Victorian.

Postage and packaging
I can't believe I hadn't posted this earlier, but here's something y'all would probably enjoy...

It's one of my favourite songs, Ramalama Bang Bang, by Roisin Murphy. You may have seen the routine danced to it on So You Think You Can Dance?. It's a very clanky-clockyworky song to begin with, but the theme of the dance was Victorian zombies to boot.

Here's a link. whee

They cut down the song, but it's still amazing...
Firefly is the AWESOME!

I want to build a ship and live on it like they do! I already have another thread where I RP out with other people about living on a FF-style airship. xd

And yes, post-apocalyptic steam punk is my favorite. Sure, victorian style steampunk is much prettier... but post-modern steam punk is just kickass and rugged! That's mah style right there!

I ponder buying welder goggles...
