Well, gee. At least now I know I have reallly horrible nails. And I hardly ever use nail polish or anything.

I have the ridges... hangnails all the time... Severely brittle nails (aside from thumbs), and I'm not sure what's wrong with my right thumbnail. Six years ago I caught it in a car door jam and it's been screwed up ever since. Half of it is yellow, and thick, and my nail grows unevenly now. One side grows alot faster than the other.

Any ideas how to go about fixing all this so I can has pretty natural nails?

D; Oh man, that's horrible.
You might have severly damaged the matrix, which is where the nail plate forms itself.
The only thing I can suggest it to buff down the thicker side, to smooth it out and make it more even with what's still "normal"

You need some oils for those digits little missy~

I always knew about stencils but damnnn those pens are nifty.

I have lengthwise ridges too. xD
On majority of my nails it stops about half way.
But for pointer&thumb its all the way to the end.

My nails still grow quickly and pretty long so I just don't worry about them.

Well, that's the strange part about the thick side of it. It's like, thick underneath, not on top, so should I buffer the top or what? gonk
I'm sorry if that's a really stupid question... it's like 3:30am here...

My boyfriend called me last night.... errr.. it was more at 1am; BUT STILL!
And told me they had some fancy Pen/Polish things in the store, so he bought me one to try out. I wont get it until the weekend though emo

I have yet to try any of those super skinny pen tips though. I was tempted to purchase one from Claire's ... as cheap as their polish it. xD

It's about 3:25am right now.

Is it almost like it's a build up?
If so, it sounds like my Second Toe Nail's. They look much like the Hypertrophy nail picture. I file them flat; it's really the only option

A little bit, but like, a normal length. And yeah, it's almost like a build up. So buffer and file I shall.

Give it a shot.
Just, do not file too much away and do not file too hard.
It will get hot, and removing too much might be painful.
Found that out the hard way xD

It does seem quite common. xD
When I cut mine short, I don't put anything except a cuticle oil on them so I don't get hangnails (they hurt so bad crying ).

I dunno if you wanna add this, but those grooves are also caused by previously wearing fake nails. I used to have them, and how I have a groove on every nail from here the fake nail was. Ugh. The cool thing about it, though, is I get to see how long it's grown. :3

That made me remember how bad my nails used to look when I removed my fake nails.
Took forever to grow them out

Ooh and I have a question -- sometimes when I paint my nails, I will get little bumps. They're not the air bubbles, but they are actually small bumps. I dunno what causes this. I use a nice base coat.

Any ideas? I've heard dehydration?

Omg it has been HORRIBLE. My nails were so weak and many of them even broke in half! Also when I was zipping up my pants, the zipper got caught and I ran a hole through my nail from the zipper. It was ridiculous.

They have started to grow, but it's soooo slow. I have been using OPI's Nail Envy and also taking Biotin. ;_;

Like, the nail polish has bumps?
Or is it the actual nail?
