@Everyone - I haven't had enough sewing time to know how good I am xd I guess I'm good at English, and "understanding" music (aka, I get music theory and know quite a lot, but I still don't have enough practice to call myself "good" at guitar or piano! xp ).

@Marionette- I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean.

I made a bow and posted it as a substitute alice bow and someone basically said that I was a failure and that wasn't even close to an alice bow...

I mean yes it was a plain large bow on a barette, but I'm not big on things that make me look like presents.

Well, the person's right, it's not really close to being an Alice bow.

But that doesn't mean you're a failure at it, you just misunderstood something about making one. Being that you posted in a community of lolitists, as I call some of them, it's kind of awkward and insulting that they see such a simply bow.

Bows aren't made by that material you made; they're usually made with the same material as the dresses. And they usually aren't simple as that.

Do you have any sewing skills?

Whatever, Marionette, it could totally work! Is there some way you can make the bow so the poka-dots are on the outside? I think that would be a great start! And then maybe just add some lace?

Cute bow, but it is not close to an alice bow at all, and it's not traditional lolita headgear.
There are many tutorials for how to make them, though...

And I don't get how you associate alice bows to presents. :/
Alice bows are made of fabric and they have lace.
Yours was made out of ribbon.

I seriously need to start sewing again. mad I have all kinds of gorgeous fabric and I pretty much know what I want to do with it, I just dont have the time and plus my sewing machine and surger are both blocked off by a huge queen sized mattress and box spring. Gee thanks mom. rolleyes xd

My mom's going to be teaching me needle work though. I'm excited because embroidery looks so pretty. D:

Lack there of in sewing skills. Knitting is more of my thing.

I did attempt to make a Bow out of regular Material and then attatch lace but my parental unit was basically completely against it. Not to lack of liking, but rather that she felt it was way to much of a hassel.

I Had planned on making it from fabric and lace but she was against it. So That is basically all I have until I can hunt down some fabric and lace on my own.
