Hello, I'm Moon and I'm rather new here as well to the fashion.

I currently don't have any lolitawear as to be honest I still can't decided what style of Lolita I like best!

I'm 14 years old and guess i''m more into the cutesy, bunny-ish side of Lolita but i'm not exactly sure if I'd even suit that kinda style or if I'd just look weird... If I post a picture of myself could you guys advise me on what kind of loli to go for? <3

Hello moon ^^ I'm also 14 but by no means am new to lolita, if you need any advice feel free to ask me young loli to young loli. And if you post a pic I'd be glad to tell you what style I think suits you but really you should just wear whatever style interests you wink I'm sure you'll look great

First of all thanks for taking the time to respond most people would've been like urgh newbie loli whee secondly I think I will go for sweet, bunny lolita, but do you mind if I like pm you a pic so you could just give me an opinion? surprised

No problem ^^ and I'm sure nobody would be mean the girls here seem quite nice smile I don't mind if you pm me but like I said you should just wear what interests you ^^ otherwise you'd probably end up not even being happy with the style and probably end up leaving :/ And just one other thing, what exactly do you mean by bunny lolita? I've never heard of that sub-style before, do you mean just wearing bunny ears with it? oh by the way here's a link to get you started since you are new to the fashion it should be very helpful ^.^

http://www.lolitafashion.org/what_is_lolita.html

this website gives very useful detailed info on all the questions you might have. The most important topics I recommend taking a look at first are:

what is lolita?
lolita styles
Cosplay Lolita to Elegant Lolita in 7 steps

But try to read as much of it as you can ^^ I can tell you that this website really helped me alot and gave me almost all the information I have. Just remember to feel free to pm me and message me whenever you have a question I don't bite heart

(by the way I'm terribly sorry for writing so much v.v)

Hello, welcome to the thread. ^^
If you enjoy the cutesy sweet Lolita type, then go for it! Don't let anyone tell you that you can't or shouldn't wear the style you want.
I'm sure you can pull it off much better than me, because I'm already 24 years old. lol

I really do want to go for it but if it looks overly weird i'm starting to worry if all my friends won't want to be seen with me and of course no matter how much I love lolita I'd be terribly lonely if that happened. But then again my hopefully my friends aren't that mean sweatdrop
If they act like that, then they weren't your friends to begin with.

Just a quick question for you lovely lolitas out here emotion_bigheart

hen you first wore lolita clothes, how did people around you react?
Or just wearing it on the daily basis, do strangers bother you? Like whisper, ask for picture, comment about the way you dress.

I've always love lolita clothes emotion_kirakira but I don't think I'm comfortable to wear it everyday. So I finally found an excuse to wear lolita for an assignment. (I needed to break a social norm and record other people's reaction.) So I'm a bit curious about people's reaction to lolita as well.

I get called either Lady Gaga, Bo Peep, and by the little kids I get called Princess. I much rather be called that than Lady Ca-Ca. xD
I get photo requests, and even gotten interest from people for making them somehing when I tell them its handmade by me. I don't look at people and tune out of them when Im in lolita, so I can just ignore the bad looks and remarks and be on with my merry ol' self~

I just got into Lolita fashion from a friend, but sadly I can't afford any brands right now...(I will one day buy out metamorphose LOL) So thinking of sewing my own, any advice for someone just starting out? Material choices, patterns and the like? I have no idea where to start, and my friend doesn't sew...help would be much appreciated ^_^ Since I'm a bit older I tend to go with Classic Elegant or Hime styles since they are more appropriate for my age.

Actually the print I want is on reserve now, I'll have to wait a long while to buy it second hand. I do look at second hand items, but I haven't found the dress I'm looking for yet. I actually don't know what series it is, I think it's Brilliant Princess but I'm not sure, so at least I have time on that outfit. But because of my measurements it's hard to find items that fit right, so want to try sewing to figure out a better fit. Would I have to order the Gothic & Lolita Bible online? I wouldn't know where to find that.

I made a new dress a couple weeks ago, haven't gotten around to posting it here yet but I decided to sell it on Etsy because it fits me rather snug. Its a yellow gingham jumper dress with shirring, heres the link to the listing here if you wanna see it:

Lately I been working on a super OTT-looking dress as well, but this one is for my keeps. Because Im a sucker for outrageously cute and colorful prints~ Ill have pictures of it when its complete (for those of you that have seen I posted the fabric Im using a few pages back, if your curious as to what it looks like)

that's really really cute

Thanks hun~ =^ o ^=

How long have you been making dresses?

Been sewing since 2009 really, I started making lolita dresses early 2010 though

Sorry if it seems like I've been asking too many questions... but how long does it take and how difficult is a usual lolita dress?

Thats perfectly okay hun, For a simple dress I can get it done in a couple days (if my work schedule isn't heavy) And for a more detailed dress it takes about 3-5 days depending on how complicated and detailed it is. 3nodding
For a even a simple dress usually takes lots of patience if you want it done right, if you rush things you may have several flaws in your work. Always try to take the time to do it slowly so your piece comes out fantastic~
Ugh! It's been so hot here lately, over 100 F. Way too hot for me to bother wearing lolita. But I have been making plans for things to get for when it cools down. I'm going to put some gothic pieces in my wardrobe. I'm also going to put together a steampunk lolita coord. I've also picked out what my first Taobao order is going to be. I'm going to get Surface Spell's cathedral JSK in blue and Loris' bat bag. I also plan to get a Vampire Requiem replica JSK in red from Oo Jia.
