EMO MOMENT WARNING!

It really sucks to know the kind of goth you want to be, the things you want to wear, and the way you want to look, but then you realize that you don't have the facial structure for it, the body for it, and you're hair is too fine. ******** my life. emo

MOMENT OVER. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

..so true...
Vampyre_Angel_Kiss

My only tricky issue is non black-clad goth girls.. blood is a b*tch to remove. Unfortunately, if you're out, you can't do much about it. You're most likely to lose the garment,so my advice? Dye it. Black usually is best.

Blood's actually really easy: you just have to blot or rinse it with isotonic saline straight away. If I have any reason to expect I might get blood on my clothes, I carry a few ampoules of saline-for-injection. You can get them for like twenty cents apiece at the pharmacy.

*Hugs* I 100% know what you mean. I dearly wish I could do the crazy-androgynous mad hatter kind of look, but I'm not only not skinny enough, I'm way to female-shaped. >.< I still do a version of it, but it isn't, and can't be, quite the same.

For hair, though, do you use hair rats, hairpieces, etc? I often regretted that my hair was so thick, because thinner hair is so much more versatile. You can add bits to it, it fits under wigs so well, etc, etc.
It was in the spring this year of grace,
with new life pushing through...

Was anyone else recently contacted via pm by a stranger linking to some monster quiz thread in chatterbox?

I don't know whether or not I think it was rude of the person to send it.

In other news, I just got in from a group trip to see that Woman in Black movie and I rather enjoyed it, actually. It was a good throwback to the old days of atmospheric thrillers, and I always love me a ghost story. And then there's the part where you put a solid period setting together and I pretty much nerdgasm on the spot. Period settings are a big weakness for me.

And it was so funereal. Even the horse looked like it belonged hitched to an old hearse or the death-coach.

that I looked from the citadel down to the narrows
and asked what it's coming to.

I did, and reported it as spam.

I hadn't even heard of it. Will keep an eye out, thanks!

Saw a comment about blacks matching, so..

Yup. Best solution? Massive dye job. Got graphics? Do the best you can. Fine materials? Take 'em in. Patterns? To keep colour, use special dark-fabric friendly soaps, and turn your clothes inside out every time you wash. Freshly-dyed clothes? They make colour-catcher sheets, invest in some.

Other tip? Lint rollers. Keep one.. or three.. or seven, or thirteen, or if you're me, twenty-five. People keep stealing my open ones, I keep a couple in multiple locations, and carry a few for babybats. Um, more advice: when going out, keep the following on you:

~* Spare makeup (if you can, what you used would be good)
~* Lint roller (trust me on this one)
~* Translucent powder (preferably pressed)
~* Blotting sheets
~* A small sewing repair kit (needles, threads, small scissors, pins in a quick pinch)
~* If you can, vodka and water; if not, febreeze in a small spray bottle
~* Body spray or perfume
~* Baby wipes, or make-up remover wipes
~* A fan in summer
~* Compact mirror
~* Make-up sharpener (preferably keep all make-up stuff in a small section)

This is on top of the usual keys, change for the bus, mints or gum, whistle or other noise-maker for safety, etc., etc. Some goths will also keep things like:

~* Books or comics
~* Dead and pressed things (usually flowers)
~* For long times out, a pair of flat shoes
~* Poetry books or sketchbooks
~* CDs, mini-posters, tickets and the like
~* Tiny samples of blood, alcohol, potions, etc.

You get the idea! sweatdrop Also, if you happen to be a goth of colour that isn't black (and even if it is) and you spill, Tide make stain-removal pens.. and you can also blot it out with club sods, lemon juice, hot water, etc... depends on the stain. I find soap and water does the trick, then drying it out as fast as you can. Luckily, if you're a goth who likes their layers, remove the topmost layer and you're good.

Oh, yeah. Anyone who wears a lot of black should definitely own a lint roller. It's a simple tool, but one you shouldn't underestimate.

I got that PM too. I just deleted it after I learned it was a quiz thread. I do have to say though that the pictures in the first post on the first page were pretty, but the quiz seemed a bit stupid.

Mostly deathrock goth.

I am not willing to shave parts of my head, other than that, I'll do pretty much anything.

How does your facial structure limit you?
I don't think your hair would limit you in that style.
The only style I find thin/fine hair limits is emo/scene or any that requires a full fringe

Face is too pudgy. I don't have sharp cheekbones or a strong jawline.

My hair is fine strands, but I have a lot of them, so maybe it will balance out. But I'm also not really willing to destroy it with backcombing, which is a pretty common style in deathrock.

I guess how much you're willing to destroy it depends on how much you want to look like a deathrocker.

I'd go for it if I were you. I think make-up/hair determines how well you pull of the style more than anything. Unless people are looking at you close-up they won't notice your facial structure very much anyway.
