Gothic rock started in the UK in the 1980s and is an offshoot of post-punk. The subculture that was based on the music survived through the decade and to this very day still has many "followers". Many fashion styles have been connected to goth, and they will be discussed here.

A list of some goth bands (NOTE: There are way more bands than I listed. I just posted the more popular ones):
Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure, Alien Sex Fiend, Christian Death, 45 Grave
Black Tape For A Blue Girl, Love Spirals Downwards, Voltaire

;;Don't be an asshat.
;;Don't spam. You can bump this for me if it falls off the first page, though. ^_^
;;This is really more of a fashion thread. Even though the music is very important, keep the chat on it low.
;;Contribute bits of info that I probably left out
;;Have fun!

Many goth styles exist. Here are some of the more popular ones.

User Image
80s goth. Monochrome, big black dyed hair, boots, and ankh necklaces can be found in this style.

User Image
Deathrock. Rip black clothes, death hawks (teased mohawks), and looking like you just crawled from a grave.

User Image
Victorian goth. This style is filled with long skirts, corsets, velvet and lace. Men wearing elegant items such as poet shirts and trousers.Always looking your best, it's a blast from the past, for sure.

User Image
Cybergoth. Black mixed with neon colours. PVC, skimpy clothes, and giant fuzzy boot warmers belong here.

User Image
Mallgoth/poser/spooky kid. Baggy bondage pants, hard rock band shirts and mostly looking like a fool. No one but young teens like this so just don't do it, okay?

Fashion things (or stuff I just found really funny) from other folks.

Handmade crown, second hand black wedding gown, corset from ebay, second hand wedding skirt (the poofy one underneath), cheapass gloves, necklace made by friend and my mom made the red and black skirt. Cost me 150 euro's in total, which is about... 190 dollars or so? But I saved this outfit over a duration of a few months.

Yeah, but like Hypephilia said, people will still make stupid goth threads anyway. :/

@Xx-Razzmatazz-xX;; I feel somewhat honored that somone would send this to someone who needs help with goth. ^_^
When I'm in the mood and it's not hot out, I rock the Victorian look. Sometimes I do Lolita, but most of the time, I stick with the Punk and Gothabilly looks.

Yep! I'm always there to help the confused~! ;D

I think this should be called the OFFICIAL GOTH THREAD... 'cause I'm pretty sure it is. Mind you, there are other Goth threads, but not a single one that discusses the different forms of the style.

OFFICIAL= Yes/No?
