People who do that Are not comfortable with the bodies they have, and will never reach Spiritual Transendence

That's like saying people who wear flattering clothes, or get their hair done nice aren't comfortable with their bodies. They just want to look their best. There's a difference.

You can take cloths off, or wear your hair down. Tattoos are perminant and 30% of the people who get them at a young age regret them later.

You can take a piercing out and you can cover a tattoo.

And 76% of statistics are made up on the spot.

besides, what about if you've thought about getting your tattoo for 15 years, you get it and never regret it. Will you still not reach "Spiritual Transendence"?

I always heard 46% are made up... lol. Anyway, I wasn't really driving a Point. I like Tattoos and Piercings, but I think people are getting them just to get them. Like it's a trend.

yeah i hate the trendyness factor of the whole thing. To me Mods are something i do to Quote unquote "better" myself. I see it as a Experience for the mind and body and whatnot. i just don;t like all these 14 and 15 year old kids piercing themself (no disrespect) i think that's quite possibly the stupidest thing one could ever do.

Firstly - BME rocks. I go there daily. It's just amazing! And so informative and friendly!

Ahem. And so. Yar, LEGALLY, I've another 3months before I can get pierced. Since the law is 16 in Ireland. That said, I'm well ahead of the possy. I've... *counts* ... 7 piercings. 4 lobe, 2 helix in my left ear and my nose. I got my nose done when I was 11, and since then I've been 16, according to my piercer! Can't wait 'til I can actually LEGALLY get pierced! I'ma gonna wave my passsport at 'em just 'cause I can!!

I have more piercings, and some tattoos planned though.

1 more helix, for my b'day from my bf! heart
Centre tongue.
Sternum suface piercing.

Tattoos: Angel/devil piece around my belly button
Blue rose up my leg.
They're both drawn by me, 'cause despite the fact that I'm a dreadful artist, they represent and mean something to me so I feel designing them myself makes them more personal.


As for why...

With the piercings... I guess the only way to describe it is 'cause I know it's meant to be. I know that my body won't be.... complete until I get those piercings, and each time I get one it's like getting a little closer to my goal. I think every piercing I have is beautiful, and a part of me. They may not have 'sacred meanings' but they represent a part of me. It's like expressing yourself through dance, or art, or poetry. It's like being a dedicated cyclist or swimmer. It's like having a love for drama or science. You can't always explain why you do what you do, except that it feels right. It feels like perfection.

At least, that's how I feel...

No, unfortunately! i did have a temporary one, for adding a story, but it's expired and I lack the cash to pay for one..... plus I doubt my parents would lend me the money! Don't get me wrong, they love my mods, but my dad freaks about me talking to people on the internet!

Bummer, I have one. I Love BME, it's like a one-stop-shop for everything Body mod. (Ironicly enough, im wearing my I Screw BME boys shirt right now)

I've had a few piercings, but decided to keep only one facial piercing for my job.

-Labret
-Medusa
-Earlobes 4 times.

I kept my eyebrow, that's all.

I also have 2 tatoos, one on my wrist, the other on my upper mid back.

I'm diggin' the back tattoos and ear coil. The antihelix looks pretty sweet too.
as of now, I have 10 piercings (3 in each lobe, then 2 cartilage and....I dunno, that middle-lobe-cartilage area and a nose piercing) and 1 tattoo. I'm really poor so I don't have more yet. I plan to get a very lage tat that will cover my entier right shuolder blade along with coiling at least 1 of my ears.
I do it because it fascinates me, my tattoos mean something to me, my piercings make me feel a little more outside the box (without risking a job too badly), and because I like a little stab of pain now and then in exchange for something beautiful. The sacrafice is the best part.
(Love it so much my summer job was at a tattoo/piercing parlor).

The modifications I have are 2cm flesh tunnels through each lobe with brass weights through them and a double labret piercing,

left hand side of neck
right inner forearm

right shoulder blade
below shoulder blades spanning from one side of back to other
chest and solar plexus
collar bones
across stomach
left ankle
left inner shin
right inner shin

and I have appointments for left and right arms covered with sleeves onto my nipples

also in december I have an apponitment for suspension...

as a cleansing ritual for the soul,body and mind.....I like to look at it in a mind over matter experience

It wasn't the gauge that was bad, it was just the diameter of the ring. I was big to allow swelling, but I didn't swell at all. xp Way too big for my face.

Rules of getting a Tattoo...

Never get a Rock band's logo. Besides The Rolling Stones and Madona no one has lasted longer than maybe 15 years. So don't get a band logo, otherwise your kids are gonna bve like "What does A7X Mean?" and you're gonna be like "Oh... Uhh, it means I was in the Navy... Once..."

Never get one on a Part of the body that will be Vizable to a Boss. Cuz when your Job as a Rodie fails, you'll need to sit in a Cubicle.

Come up with an Idea and Wait 10 years. If you still like the idea, go with it. But 10 years ago, if you had gotten a Tattoo it may have been a power ragener or a My pretty poney. Would you like that now?

People in the U.S. have been getting tattooed for over a hundred years, and tattoos have been a part of many cultures around the world for hundreds of years.

Tattoos themselves can be very spiritual.

And btw, I appreciate your oppinion and agree that it shouldn't be about trends. I find it kinda insulting when my friends say that I just do it for attention. So now I've decided not to tell any of those when I either get a piercing or am planinning one. I'm sick of them coming along to get the same thing just because it's 'cool' to have the same piercings as I do.

hmm, that's odd, i usualy don't swell till about 3 - 4 days Affter the initial piercing.
