Yeah, I totally don't know where Pokemon is going right now.

And there's new labels for fashion trends now? Is it the um...emo thing? Or what...cus..>>; I don't know either. Or maybe I do..

I gave a presentation on Japanese culture today in class and I included a section on street and lolita fashion. I think I blew everyone's previous Japan stereotypes away.

What stereotypes? And what did you do?

That everyone walks around in geisha outfits watching pokemon and eating nothing but raw fish sweatdrop . Not so much stereotypes but I introduced them to all the interesting things in Japanese culture (and I did do my research wink ) that they probably didn't know about.

I take it you told them about manga cafes in Japan. They must have all started gaining interest at that point.

A manga cafe is a place in Japan like a bookstore except it has manga that you could read. There are also computers there and free food. The food is included in your $4-5 entrance fee. If you want, you could stay there all night too. You know how many times I wished for that while at my favorite bookstores?

Pokemon still airs on TV (Though there's like 485783576 different pokemon now, and totally different characters... and Ash has a different VA... as do team rocket), there's still Pokemon leagues, and they still sell the cards.

I remember back when it first came out in... what was it, 97... 98? My husband and I had been waiting for it to be released in America and we went crazy buying cards and watching the series every time it aired. sweatdrop I even because a trainer at a local pokemon league. gonk I am such a dork. But yeah, in late 2000 I think it was... I stopped collecting the cards and watching the series... when I see the plushies and shows now I am utterly confused...

If one opened up in America, I would not go. I know what I could expect there. *shivers*

Wow. I am really really scared right now :/ Western toy and game creators would give their right arm to have that sort of lasting power.

BTW does anyone around here actually sew, or just buy their fashion?

We have a maid café here. The food is pretty good and the interior design is quite nice.

When I went, there were some white people sitting behind me complaining that the maids weren't Japanese. Wtf neutral

My friend wants to open a lolita café eek

'kay I really go to sleep now.

Oh I thought most of the people at the maid café would be like that, but it's mostly young Asian teens ....

What is a maid cafe? Do people dressed up as maids come and serve you? Or is it like a hostess bar?
