i think part of the reason we don't have as much of a selection is because our media focuses on only a few different ways of dressing. over there, they dress as they please. xD;;

I was joking around with my boyfriend (a japanese man) about visual kei and some of the other crazy coool styles from japan, and he got up, went to his closet, while saying something about his friend... and how they liked some of that stuff when they were younger. And he pulls out three pairs of bondage pants and all sorts of kei-like and goth goodies. O_O

I was so surprised!!! cause he's normally so...plain in his clothing choices. A sweater, and not even jeans but those funny zippoff type pants in that strange material and on occasion kahki like denim... and he has bondage wear in his closet xDDDD

of course he's soooo cute when he dresses up in them, but, he's put on wheight since he's been in america. (the pants were a VERY tight 28 XD)
so the pants here a little uncomfortable, but still XD;;; so cute! biggrin

I took some japanese classes before, and my teacher talked about that too. he said that alot of bands start out as extremely visual, and then as they become bigger and get signed to a major company they start looking "more normal" as he put it. x3
of course, this can be seen in many band histories. he didn't dress like that though... he thought the style was very strange.

yeah, it's mostly the youth culture thats really into decopra, and kei, and sutff. : ] As they get older they dress less extremely. and some eventually go to what is tottaly "average" or "normal" manner of dress.

that ussulay happens when they have to start working or get really serious about school.
