So this thread seems more like...Japanese STREET fashion more than Japanese FASHION. Haha...

Well yeah, but Japanese street fashion is within Japanese fashion, no? ;P I'm sure talking about traditional clothing is fine too.

I dunno if she was talking about Traditional fashion, or not, but most Japanese people don't wear these fashions. Like, most casual wear is just the normal t-shirt and jeans =P Atleast, that's what I usually see when I go there. (I see them accesorize things more, though xD Like cute cell phones and key chain things, if they're just "casual"-type people.) There's more people that sport the ganguro fashion-look (usually onee-gyaru type) than any of the other styles talked about in this thread, if anything. (Unless you're in Harajuku- which is an insane orgy of trends <33 )

You're welcome to talk about any fashion in Japan. I did list traditional Japanese wear in the third post, for example.

Haha. Niice.
I actually like some of the American fashions, on guys. Like the metro-sexual look. So nice and clean looking~ :3
My boyfriend's trying to get a Japanese-inspired haircut, though. (He's asian, already, so not too hard to pull off. XD I dunno if he'll maintain the hairstyle well, though. 'Cause they seem to focus on styling their hair alot, too.)

There are so many different types of fashion in Japan.

I guess this street fashion can be categorized into a group, but that kind of fashion is based on that individual who is wearing it. They aren't following a trend and they're just trying to be creative and express their own tastes.

I'm not really sure if that gothic lolita thing is being worn for the sake of fashion. I think they're just dressing up because they like to dress up and uh...attract tourists to take pics of them or maybe have some kind of tea party together? XD

You also have so many other fashions like the whole gyaru thing. Ganguro, manba, hime-gyaru? Lots of stuff. Those are more of groupie trendy fashions.

Personally, I really like the whole casual look that Koreans and Japanese people wear. I'm a big fan of sleeveless hoodies being used with other things. Layers!!! <3

If wearing gothic lolita is because you like to dress up...how is that not wearing it for the sake of fashion exactly? If you like it, you should be able to wear it.
When my friend went to Japan she said most lolita refused pictures. Others have reported the same thing. So that couldn't be the main reason they dress that way....

I did include gyaru fashions for this thread.

If you have a nice picture demonstrating a good casual look I'll add the category.
