Saw a really cool punk girl today at the mall.. She had bright pink tapers in her ear, that were at least 1/2 inch. I really wanted to tell her about how thats not healthy, and that tapers are tools not jewelry.
But I'm pretty sure she would've punched me.

I think I've come around and feel that if you wear tapers with a length of one gauge on the end just as day jewellery/you don't sleep in them/they are your healed size it's not any different than wearing huge hanging pieces or other large decorative earrings.

No comment on your taste in jewellery though.

Right now I have both of my 1st lobes stretched to 14mm (wich I believe it translates to 9/16). I have second and third ear lobe piercing on my right ear and they are at 14g, but I'm think on going to 5mm or 6mm on my second. Still just a thought.
I also have a 18g conch piercing that I to go for a 14g and a 18g tragus.

They are a bit different, though; they force your lobe to be at an angle. Hanging jewellery doesn't generally do that.

Yeah, depends on the style. My moodstone plugs are really front heavy and hang weird though. =( So I guess that can apply to any style too. I just don't wear them for a really long time (I can't, they are heavy and my lobe stretches and they start to fall out! lol).

Hahaha, oh, the problem with stone. : ( I'm happy at 12 ga, so I doubt I'll get to experience it for myself, though. ;p

I think that wearing tapers for a few hours once in a while as a joke, in the same way one wears very heavy or oddly balanced jewellery wouldn't be the end of the world... but you couldn't wear them as often as a well-balanced hanging style or something without giving yourself problems, I suspect.

My tax return came in, and after paying rent and getting us moved, i still have a tiny bit of play money. So I ordered a few pairs of 15mm SF plugs from Bill at FrozenFire in order to stretch up! I will be 1mm away from my goal size. It's so tempting to try the whole stretch from 9/16" to 5/8", but 2mm jump? NO BUENO.

I can't wait. Also got another pair of 3mm. I lost one the other day, so i've been wearing my horn trirals, and they're a pain to sleep with.

BAF failed me on SF 15mm stuff. BOO.

I am happy last week a got to stretch my first holes to a 12 but the plug in my right ear came out when I was asleep so i need to buy more jewlery so now my right ear has to stay at a 14 while my left ear is at a 12. I am also happy that I could get the 16 hoops through my second hole again.The one in my left ear got cought on something while i was asleep and tore. It was all gross and awoken so I had to put standard earrings until the swelling went down.

My first holes are 9/16"/14mm, and my seconds are 3mm. :3 Just having trouble getting them to stretch to 4mm. :/ bag o' dicks.
