I guess I could, but I'm so caught up with LJ communities and ForumWarz right now that it seems daunting to get involved with something else. :/

No worries, that's just where I usually sell my stuff. LJ has "gauge trade" too, which I haven't tried yet but lots of others use it. (To be honest, LJ confuses me a lot...)
IAM is more like MySpace. You can just make a profile and hardly "use" it as it were. I just check my messages on there, but don't use the forums much.
I don't know if anyone has used this site, I just thought I'd bring it up. They look like they have really good stuff, you can customize if you want, and the prices seem reasonable.

What sort of woods are best for making your own plugs? Obviously, plywood isn't the greatest idea, but I'm not sure where to find good quality wood. Woodworking shops?
Some wood wholesalers will sell carving/hobby wood. You know, those places that sell huge planks of wood for building houses n' stuff.
You can check this out: http://www.omericaorganic.com/woods.php
I would suggest a soft wood for learning though. Something like purpleheart will give you a total headache. Might as well make stone plugs. lol xd

Hobby wood? I remember making bridges out of it in 8th grade, but the stuff at the hardware store didn't seem too sturdy or nice quality. Even their expensive stuff didn't hold up very well on my bridge.

I'll have to look up wood-working sites. One of my parents' friends does scrollsaw stuff, so he would probably know where to look.

My boyfriend wants to make some for me. He's got access to a neato tool shop, and it's not like they're too complicated to begin with.

Compared to the assignments in his tools class, plugs are a piece of cake. He had to make a screwdriver for his last assignment. D:

honestly... i cannot remember the name of the place, but it was some ethnic wig/hair/supply store in Indiana that had a bunch of other cheap goodies, like knockoff Burberry...do-rags? ahahh Everything is so ridiculous there, I love it.
^_^ Maybe the next time I visit there I can grab some for you, they're really cheap.
Hello :3

I started to stretch my ear yesterday, (2mm) I read that if it ihas been done properly it shouldn't hurt but mine did (It was a copeable pain). One guide told me to push the taper through fast and another slow. I did slow but i need some more tips.

Thanks.

It can sting a bit, even when you properly lube up the taper. You shouldn't just shove the taper through your ear, since you want it to go in comfortably. And you never ever want to see blood.

If your ear still hurts today, then you probably did something wrong. If it's just tender and a bit red, then you'll be fine.
Woah. I haven't posted in a long time...

Anyway.

My ears are fully healled and I tried to put in double flaires today. they wouldn't go in without feeling like I was gonna tear my ear. The flare wasn't even that big!

Any idea why? Or how to fix it....?
How long since you stretched?

Other than that all I can say is just use lube.

Also, remember not all brands have the same sizing, you're not gonna find a pair of plugs that is exactly the same size as what you got, so. They may be bigger than your size.
