growing out hair... needz advice!

soo i started with a pixie, and now i'm getting towards having a bob, albeit a very layered one.

yeah i know i'm a bit of a lard, so no comments on the chins plz.
but, as it were, that's my hair. at my jaw, not really my chin yet. i am in the process of growing it out, i want it long, like to my boobies at least. my current dilemma is in the fact that my length of hair sucks. it's really thick, especially in the back, and i don't know if i should trim it up or not.

Im in the same dilemma as you. But ive been growing out my pixie for awhile. Its taking me awhile because I keep cutting it short. gonk Im horrible at growing out my hair. My advice for you is to keep the scissors far away. XD

Yeah, I haven't cut it in three months or so, but the back always gets so thick, I keep getting it layered and stuff. I just want it to be more one length, since it's pretty layered.

Oh, also, does anyone have ideas for colors? Natural-looking or funky colors, whatever you think; I can do anything 'cause I'm a stylist ^^

Well get it trimmed at least once a month so it will grow. If not your split ends break and then it stays the same length. But if you're worried about how thick it is, get it thinned with thinning shears.

Ask your stylist about different layering because every face shape requires different bangs and face framing.

For example, I have a square-ish face so I get my bangs to about my jaw and get layers to soften my jawline. But I have been growing it out cuz I love my jaw line. smile

Me too biggrin But I don't work for a salon anymore. I just do friends and family's hair.

yeah my face is oval or round... so i can do most styles as long as they don't widen my face. i hate growing hair out... i end up just putting it up in pig tails or a ponytail [with clips] for a few months until it grows a bit more, so i don't really notice the annoying part..

This is the best advice IF you dont want to grow your hair.

TRIMMING your hiar EVERY month, will NOT help your hair grow. It might even make it SHORTER over time. If you keep on cutting more than you are growing, your hair will be shorter.

Unless your hair is damaged, there is no need to trim it. Just snip off the split ends you find.

I got a bob cut in july, about my ear level in the back, and now my hair is touching my shoulders.
Between then and now i trimmed it once.
All i can say is don't damage it too much, because you'll have to trim it a lot to keep it healthy.
Get it trimmed every 2-3 months or so, and get layers to keep it full of volume. c:

yeah my hair grows super slow, it's gotten about an inch since july.
i'm thinking about getting clip-in extensions next time i have some money to spend, just so i can feel like my hair is closer to like, shoulder length. hopefully it won't look stupid, i think my hair is about long enough that i can blend extensions into. it's about 5 niches most of the way around...

Ahh, growing your hair out from a pixie is hard. I did it (from a really short pixie) and now it's about chin length when curly, and rarely when I straighten it, it's shoulder length <3 I want to grow it out to like.. the third form bottom rib >.<

Patience, young grasshopper, patience. That's all I can advice to you. Get trims so you don't start growing a mullet or some other funky style, but never cut it too short.

Sigh... I know. patience is so haaaard thoooughhhhh -sobs-
Yeah, it's not that bad, but my biggest concern is that I always have shears lying around [they're even professional hair cutting ones and all] so it's veeeeeery tempting up make those little snips. Must.. resist... guh.

That's what I'm doing. Make sure you brush it in the morning and at night. Take showers regularly, and if you wear earrings, watch out for those o.o
