Advice! Hair Cuts, Styles, Dyes, and More

So, you're going to the salon in less than two hours, you need a change, but have no clue what to do. Or maybe, you're looking to just WOW all your classmates, but have no idea how to jazz-up your current cut. Perhaps you have no experience with highlights or dyes and need some friendly advice as to what'll look best on you.

No matter what the problem is, you've come to the right place. This is the central thread for hair advice, from one Gaian to another.

How to Post

  • We want to help you(really, we do!), but we can't give you the best advice unless we have some idea as to what you've already got going on. So, we either need
    • A picture
      and/or
    • A detailed description of you & your hair. Face shape(oval, rectangle, round, square, heart; here's a guide, if you need one), hair color, length, thickness, volume, straight/wavy/curly. The more we know, the better the advice will be!

  • We need to have some idea of what you're looking for. Give links to pictures, tell us if you want a subtle change or something dramatic, natural colors or wacky. Something low maintenance, perhaps? Tell us what you're looking to change.

Advice requests that do not contain these two components may be deleted.

  • Please avoid spamming your request. Fashion&Style is not a fast-moving forum, so you need to allow ample time for people to read your post and respond to it. If you do not receive any responses within 24 hours, you may then repost your advice request.

Rules

  • Since this thread is going to have pictures, let us reiterate that trolling is prohibited. Hateful remarks based on age, sex, race, size, or fashion subculture will not be tolerated. Everyone has personal fashion biases, but these should not form the basis for personal attacks or hateful comments. Do not post here for the sole purpose of deliberately slandering or flame-baiting a particular fashion culture or group of people.

  • Don't spam the sticky. Spam and unrelated posts will be deleted and the poster may be warned. This includes "I don't know" and similarly unhelpful posts. If you do not have an answer to someone's question, don't post: let someone else respond.

  • As always, Gaia's Terms of Service & Rules & Guidelines apply.

    Reserved, just in case.
What haircuts/styles would work best for long-ish curly hair? My hair's always looking triangular and poofy unless I tie it back in a braid, which I don't enjoy doing. The best description of my hair would be: dark brownish, wavy-curly, it's about three or four inches past the shoulder and I'm not too sure about the thickness, but it's definitely not thin.

My face is kinda heart shaped, but less severe at the chin. Here's a pic, sorry that kinda fuzzy, (it's the best I have D: ) also it's from a year ago but I esentially look the same. While we're on the topic, would auburn highlights look good on me?

Also, great idea. Hopefully, it'll reduce the repetitive threads.

I'm fairly clueless when it comes to hair, so take this advice with a grain of salt, if you wish.

One of the best solutions for poofiness is getting layers, if you haven't already. 3nodding Layers cut down the volume of your hair and make it more manageable. Otherwise, there are other chemical sort of things you can do: anti-curl helps a bit, as do straighteners(obviously). Curl defining shampoos/conditioners seem to help with my volume, since it helps keep my wavey hair in chunks, instead of it going everywhere and out of control. 3nodding

And I think auburn highlights would be fine. On dark hair, it's not too dramatic of a shift, but it's still a noticeable enough change. 3nodding

I'm alos in need of a hair change.
Mine's about medium length, wavy, naturally dirty blond. I have layers, and my hair is probably friend from straitening it too much. I'm not sure the thickness, but I want something that stands out. Colors, anything. My face is, probably ova/round shaped, I'm not 100% sure. Here's a picture.
    my most current picture:

You can't possibly be any worse than me at hair stuff. XD

Layers? I have a layered cut already, but I don't think it was done properly. It wasn't too much of a noticeable change from my normal hair. O_o I'll try looking into getting some curl defining shampoo, though- that sounds like a great idea. I don't want to put any straighteners in my hair, though. Don't they damage your hair in the long run? [good to know, though, for special occasions or anything. :3]

That's what I was hoping to hear. I don't want to look too dramatic, just enough to be slightly different from my normal hair color.

    Thanks. :3
Although I understand having a stick stops the flooding but...won't some people by ignored in here =[?
