Whatever n***a, call it what you will. He brings fresh material consistently and diversifies himself pretty well. If I'm dumb for noticing that, then ignorance is bliss.
I want you to find me THREE songs off of his LAST album that are DRASTICALLY different from one another, transcribe the lyrics and tell me what he's saying that is diverse and "fresh".
And don't call me n***a, n***a.
Steets on Fire:
Lyrics depict the epidemic of irrational actions, the scurge it has upon the streets and the feedback it gets form the people. Its like the story of a literary concrete temptation, its journey, the blame it gets, and the cause and effect through the peoples eyes. Beat ain't bad and Matthew's had worse vocals.
Dumb it down:
Title pretty much explains itself if you're familiar with Lupe's stuff. By giving depictions and metaphors of the body, soul, and psyche, he shows how he's not going to dumb down his lyrics and content because some niggas are too dumb to get it.
The Die:
Slightly darker, with much more vivid storytelling without the narrative sense. Basically breaks down how no matter how big of a OG or whatever the hell you wanna pose as, or may even genuinely be, it won't matter when your time is up, and all ya cool and swag ain't worth s**t then.
DRASTICALLY different, no, but its better than 13 tracks of masagony(sp) and noise or 16 of THE EXACT SAME MESSAGE or bitchin about how bad rap is in and how much you can do it better. Is the n***a perfect? No, but he's giving me options. All I'm saying man.
