Ragnarok merges the best of two ages: The 2D RPG age and the 3D. And it does it well, for the characters have a better display within the environment because each are made with distinct game engines.Ragnarok's fusion of past and present is unique. Both aspects don't overcome eachother - they even actually add up one another.
It's a straightforward game, you learn everything you need to know just by playing, but still you have thousands of combinations and builds, including quest skills and skills provided by cards.
Each class has a concept. They're pretty well-defined and distinct. Games such as Corum Online, RF Online and Tibia have a very distorted concept, and maybe even WoW sacrifices this class distinction and definition to give an illusion of freedom of gameplay. That doesn't happen to Ragnarok. This clear distinction between classes helps building up a marvellous teamplay experience that seems to be Ragnarok Online's best quality and makes WoE the best PvP around.
The game world never stops. The GM staff is highly active, promoting events 24/7 from MvP unpredictable but strategic spawns to Daily Quests. The airplane system is pretty realistic and allows players to keep constant movement around the world.
Ragnarok's BGM is awesome. It settles you into the game real quick: When you're in a charming and welcoming but overpopulated town such as Prontera, the BGM is mild and soft-paced. But when you're going through some boring desert, the music is frantic, delivering a heavy charge of dense overcognition, which balances the whole thing. It can please different tastes, making a coherent fusion of electric guitar sharp riffs which gives the textures together with the electronic samples and classic melodies from different cultures, depending on the kingdom you're into.
I've been playing bRO ( Brazil Ragnarok Online ) for 4 years in and out and met some nice people from all ages. That happens because the game may use a more "childish" aesthetics, but the character design and concept is fabulous and usually far from childish. The gaming experience gets more and more adult the more your character evolves, from cute and childish (Newbie maps) to dark and heroic (Glast Helm and high-level dungeons with high MvP activity).
