The only thing that really keeps me together with this game, as well as I'm certain well over 95% of the community, is having people to play with.

I'll keep playing it forever as long as I have friends I can enjoy the game with.

I played Ragnarok 6 years ago... But I still really like it so much... It was the best MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) I played...

It was the first MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) in the Philippines... I played it once, I enjoyed it, and I stick with it... Ragnarok is awesome...

I played RO before because I played many times with many friends, so it was fun just to make some new or strange things every now and then, and I got attached too to get many new things that they got into de server and all, but later on I got really bored of it. =x

The game is very good even though it may not have the best graphics but the game play makes it very worth it its good to kill time and make friends just by playing it

Ragnarok merges the best of two ages: The 2D RPG age and the 3D. And it does it well, for the characters have a better display within the environment because each are made with distinct game engines.Ragnarok's fusion of past and present is unique. Both aspects don't overcome eachother - they even actually add up one another.

It's a straightforward game, you learn everything you need to know just by playing, but still you have thousands of combinations and builds, including quest skills and skills provided by cards.

Each class has a concept. They're pretty well-defined and distinct. Games such as Corum Online, RF Online and Tibia have a very distorted concept, and maybe even WoW sacrifices this class distinction and definition to give an illusion of freedom of gameplay. That doesn't happen to Ragnarok. This clear distinction between classes helps building up a marvellous teamplay experience that seems to be Ragnarok Online's best quality and makes WoE the best PvP around.

The game world never stops. The GM staff is highly active, promoting events 24/7 from MvP unpredictable but strategic spawns to Daily Quests. The airplane system is pretty realistic and allows players to keep constant movement around the world.

Ragnarok's BGM is awesome. It settles you into the game real quick: When you're in a charming and welcoming but overpopulated town such as Prontera, the BGM is mild and soft-paced. But when you're going through some boring desert, the music is frantic, delivering a heavy charge of dense overcognition, which balances the whole thing. It can please different tastes, making a coherent fusion of electric guitar sharp riffs which gives the textures together with the electronic samples and classic melodies from different cultures, depending on the kingdom you're into.

I've been playing bRO ( Brazil Ragnarok Online ) for 4 years in and out and met some nice people from all ages. That happens because the game may use a more "childish" aesthetics, but the character design and concept is fabulous and usually far from childish. The gaming experience gets more and more adult the more your character evolves, from cute and childish (Newbie maps) to dark and heroic (Glast Helm and high-level dungeons with high MvP activity).

Why not? wink

And that's the problem with you young'uns what cut your teeth on the PS2. No appreciation for the finer points of sprites and 2.5D graphics. /oldlady

Seriously, if you absolutely must have photorealistic 3D graphics to play a game for more than five minutes, I actually feel sorry for you. You'll end up missing out on a lot of great titles that way.

hey i'm 15 and love the sprites, also it is stupid if you need 3d graphics to enjoy it. it's an overall awesome game, plus i'm sure they're coming out with new things alot,

Hallah if you love Lord Knight Class

WutWut.

So, why do you play Ragnarok instead of a game with better graphics

I got right there and stopped. This invalidates any arguements you may or may not have against iRO--eye candy does not a good game make. =/

I still play iRO because, more so than just about any other MMORPG I've ever played (R.O.S.E. Online doesn't count, as it is another Gravity title), I can customize my characters' builds directly; I control their skills, their stats, and their equipment to such a degree that it's highly unlikely that any of my chars will be exactly the same as someone else's, nor will I lack for a party to fit into when I so choose. I like the community, as even top-tier players with all their slots filled with glowy trans chars wearing God equips will talk to the lowest Novices and help them along. I like the PVP system, WoE and WoE2, and the variety of dungeons and leveling fields. And most of all, I like the fact that playing iRO actually feels like a game and not a chore.

If you stopped there, you missed the other reasons I play other games. For me, ragnarok was fun, but the tiny sprite graphics and barely-animated skills didn't get me excited enough.

So yeah, it could be a great game, but if not presented well it just bores me.

Reasons to play RO:
Meet new people, aim for goals such as being the best PK and/or WoE person, getting new cards, equips, and maybe find a set goal in your life in there XD
Those people who you meet, may be your friends for a lifetime~
There was this couple who met on RO, and they met in real life face to face and actually got married!
It's amazing how great RO is (:

Amazing game for its time. 2d Spritework is top notch, and I absolutely love the textures(holy s**t they are good for when this game came out) and the simplistic, yet amazing looking 3D.

RO also has the best music, hands down, In any mmorpg (and in almost any game) ever. The atmosphere is awesome, and there are tons of different areas to train in. There are always multiple maps for you to level in, regardless of your level. The game is also fast paced compared to most mmorpgs (hi lets spend 20 seconds on one attack/wowetc). There are rares in almost every map. You can also solo EFFICIENTLY, unlike 99% of the mmorpgs out there, and while it offers solo play, theres plenty of content and reasons to party up. Speaking of solo play, in other mmorpgs everyone loves joining parties for a major quest or something important just to have a different dumb s**t ******** it up for you every time right? fun. . .

WoW (beyond terrible game imo) puts me to sleep. Almost every other mmorpg puts me to sleep. RO keeps me hooked.

I know this part is irrelevant, but I played flyff for a while and I have to say it could have been a great game if it offered solo play. Once you got to a certain point soloing was pretty much impossible even against enemies 3-4 levels lower than you without spamming food and taking 10 years(you actually healed slower than enemies hurt you too). You also had to have a full party and support at all times in order to gain good exp(party exp boost in this game is screwed up), even though the party is always split up into groups of 2 all around the world. In the international servers, if one person left the party, you had to go back to town and shout for 30min to 2 hours++ to get someone to fill the party. Many people would leave after just a few minutes if the party isn't full. Fun waste of time. RO avoids things like this.

it eas first mmorpg i have played, so i really liked it.
*because it have porings in it 3nodding xd *

Yea, also my first MMO. It's a good thing to resort to when you are bored, but I try not to spend too much time on it.
