I think it would taste like cherry cough syrup, and that would not be a very pleasant thing to bite into.

Hmm. I reckon strawberry jam. And Poporings would taste limey, and Drops would taste peachy, and Marons woud taste grapey and Metalings woulds taste like cars. :3

I think the porings taste like red apples and poporings are green apples (after all, they do drop those)
