For the life of me, I can't understand what you're talking about with the whole paying aspect. The Kafra shop stuff isn't necessary by any means, and is really only good if you're the max level or need something quick with a card slot.

And that proves that you haven't been playing the game for very long.

Kafra Shop items are incredibly useful no matter what level you are, and most of the gear in it isn't the best for putting cards into. :

They're probably quite useful, I don't doubt that, I'm just saying they're not necessary. You can get by just fine without Kafra Shop items.

You can.

But, you see, most of us don't want to take two months to get to second class, and you, therefore, are a minority. If nothing else, Robo Eyes, Evolved Pipe and Gym Passes seem pretty much necessary to compete at this point, in either leveling or in WoE.

If you don't intend to compete, that's fine, but your opinion on what is necessary or not when it DOES come to competing doesn't really make sense.

Those of us who DO intend to compete need to level as quickly as possible - otherwise, the opposing guilds will get to 99 (and therefore trans classes) before us. We'll lose our castles in WoE, lose at MVPs, so on and so forth. People who play this game seriously take that as a bad thing. You don't. That's the major difference. smile

I think it's silly to be that serious. When you hit level 99 transcendent, well, all that's left is to get gear. Sure, you can do that by protecting your castle in WoE, but what's the point? After you're that high in the game all you can do is help other people do stuff, but most people play games for their own enjoyment. I suppose you can be happy helping people, but it would get boring after a while.

Edit: 38/28 so far. 22 more job levels until Assassin time. :]

I get where you're coming from Daenyris, wanting to stay at the top, and without the Kafra shop you'd lose the advantage. But it's still not required that the Kafra shop be used, I mean, the Gym Passes I can understand, and battle manuals so you can level much faster and thus be 'competitive'. But it's not like you'd be suddenly rendered utterly useless without your evolved pipe or robo eyes. o.o
In the long term, when people do have their 99 trans classes and it's no longer a race to stay at the top, the people who have items from the Kafra shop won't stand out much amongst those who don't.
In a competitive sense, sure they're great, especially at the moment on Valkyrie, but for most players, casual ones, they're far from necessary.

Personally though, I caved and bought a couple Kafra shop headgears. xD With all my other gear being npc bought, it's nice to have some decent items.

Except that if you look at my guild RIGHT NOW, we're holding 12 castles. We already have enough pieces to make an Aesprika. If we continue to stay on top, the way we are now, we will ALWAYS have more God Items than everyone else and therefore we will always be on top. Kafra Shop items help us get there, and therefore help us stay there.

As for it being silly, it's fine that you think so, but the majority of people who play on iRO at this point disagree with you. You say "once you hit 99 transcendant" like it's easy. Most people don't stop at one character anyway. I know people who have 10+ 9x trans characters and are nowhere near being done. Even when you're 99 there are plenty of things you can do in the game; the most popular is MVPing, and there will always be MVPs out. There are always better, more expensive gears to be had.

The reason RO has lasted as long as it has is because of the ridiculous competition, and that's not likely to change.

Well then, I suppose it's their own business if they need to know they're better than everyone else at any given time. Personally, I just like exploring all the cool parts of the game, namely Thanatos tower.

Unfortunately, Bee is pretty much impossible to take out on Valk at the moment, especially with the trap nerf. xp If the GMs don't remove it themselves, it'll be terrorizing us until maint.

I'm sure the GMs have been flooded by requests at this point. If not, I don't see a bright future for the people of Valkyrie. >_>

But anyway, I dunno.
For me, I don't like leveling fast.
I mean, I do like leveling fast, but I like to pace myself and I'd rather enjoy my leveling instead of being like "OMG, I NEED TO GET TO LEVEL 99 BY NEXT WEEK" or something.
I'd rather just have a social guild instead of going through chaos like WoE.
