Welcome to Gaia! ::

been hearing this lately and checking out the main website (also noticed they added another class tier lol god how many times do i gotta level up to 99 in that game )

but ya i havent played Ro in forever and only played it on private servers...so how bad is it without 5X rates and hows the legit server?

(also not talking about valk thats basically a private server run by a part of gravity that has permission [or i should say has HAD] to run it for free)

im talking about the actual P2p version supposedly went free lately
seems WarpPortal is hosting the US/Intl version ._.

Since Ragnarok's Renewal update, the game has become mostly easier. You can level up faster and stuff. They did away with monthly subscriptions and just made a VIP status, a one-time payment that's good across all three servers, Ymir, Yggdrasil, and Valkyrie. You can see what the major differences are on this iRO Wiki page: http://irowiki.org/wiki/VIP
Ragnarok Online has been free to play ever since in many countries such as the Philippines. Although you have the choice to top-up some credits to buy those coveted premium items. :>
It's probably much easier than 5x rated private server, because it (most likely) has more players that have been playing for years, so there's a lot of rare items going around. And generally speaking renewal is pretty goddamn easy to level compared to the old system, if you haven't tried it out yet.

The difference is that you don't get much exp from monsters that are over or under 15 levels of your current level, thus you'll be leveling at certain monsters at certain levels. Which is why I switched to world of warcraft, but other people seem to still enjoy ragnarok so it's worth a try.
I just remember leveling hunters and mages at those maneating plants from like level 30 till 99 (given at around 60+ there are better places to level it was just easy to do it there lol) hmm maybe ill give it a try i do miss RO ...most mmorpgs dont give u the satisfaction that RO gives u when u asura strike someone >.> that was always great for giggles and jollies boom 100k dmg! oh noes! *sits in the corner for 5 mins regening lol*
It's still inferior to private servers.

Really, once the privates get the coding for the 3rd Transcendent classes, the official server will die. Only reason I'd eve consider joining it right now is to try out a Guillotine Cross.
I heard it sucks.

I think the original would've been much better ( before it became f2p ) simply because of the dumb things they're doing just to get money now - like you can pay and level up much quicker. It's basically a Donate server now and I'm really sad.

It's been free to play for iRO users for months for all servers. I got an email about it. I've been thinking about going back and trying it since it's been like 2003 since I last played.. I just feel that it would be odd though.
Yeah I wanted to check out the servers as F2P when I heard about it, but I couldn't figure out how to get access to my account with their new system. Plus my main characters were on the test server (I forget what it was called now.. lol) so I dunno where they are in limbo right now sad

I still hop on a private server form time to time tho :3
