Welcome to Gaia! ::

I've been looking for a new MMO. There's a couple things I'm considering on whether or not to start playing Ragnarok. If you guys don't mind, I'll appreciate a little bit of help on this judgement call.

1. I use a laptop, and RO is aged to the point where it seems like it would run nicely looking at the PC specs, but I'm using Vista and I hear a lot of people have problems with Vista and RO. Anything I should worry about?

2. I'm only on like two or three days a week. This is a real dealbreaker for me because I know RO is a grindtastic adventure and I really don't want to log in every week to see the people I hung out with 10/20 levels higher than me. How often have you

3. How much does the Party system matter? I want to give support a try in this game, i.e. I may go Gypsy, or Sniper. I never really like to play tanks or solo classes, basically.

4. I'm kind of dumb, apparently. The PC specs that I can read (here) I just blow away, but some of them I'm clueless about. I'm using Dxdiag but don't know where VGA card is mentioned, for instance.

I'm also considering other MMOs, but I'd prefer not to explain far into them and why, but those are Tibia and Zodiac Online (Turns out that MMO is longdead. Depressing.) If you'd like to talk about information on any other MMos I'd prefer PMs as to keep this thread related.

Also sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place. Long story short, I intend to play casually, if that means anything.

I'm considering playing it too, but I haven't played it in quite a bit. It used to be worse grindy, but I don't know how it is now post-renewal update.

Nope, should run fine. Works perfectly on my low-spec netbook. And yes, the dizzy effect IS just that laggy. If you see everything slow down and get wavy, thats just the effect and not your computer.

Depends on who your friends are, a gigantic portion of the community bots and leveling is already pretty easy to cheese with help from other players.

A lot, grouping is one of the fastest methods of leveling and support is always needed. You might have trouble finding a bard though if you're going to be a gypsy. At least they were rare back when I played on official servers.

You could run RO on a toaster, that won't be an issue.

1.a laptop will be fine, i use one as well. though you will need a mouse. playing with the touchpad SUCKS

2. thats fine, thats all me and my husband plays. getting from 1-99 changed post renewal so those levels come faster. plus with all the turn ins and the eden quests it makes it much much easier than it used to be. if you are worried about your friend out levling you, find people who play as much as you do. there are always gonna be those people who get a 150 charcter in a week. they are crazy people...or bots..

3. it does and it doesnt. i play an arch bishop as support and i have to party because i cant level on my own. however my husband who is a mechanic can solo many places. However any leveling spot past 110 ish you need a party to play. the monsters are just too hard. even if the party is just you and support.

4. you'll be fine.

i love the game because i also play rather casually. i started with a theif and worked my way up and i got her to 99 in about 2 months by myself ( in between work and a new baby....so very infrequently) Though you should try seeing about getting into the vip server, there is much less bots there.... i play on the free server myself because there is more people and thus a bigger economy. but ...my god the bots..... i even paid for vip, because the benifits are awesome... hope this helps!
About the job thing, Ragnarok is a party system game especially when you are a high-level character.

Well, I will buy a gaming laptop soon and I will download Ragnarok absolutely first.
For me, I will pick a job that is essential to WoE smile
I love those.
1. There were a few compatibility issues when vista just came out but that was like a million years ago. I'm pretty sure they're fixed by now. I haven't heard of any problems for a while.

2. With the renewal patch levelling/catching up is less of a grind. It's A LOT easier. Levelling up should be a snap.

3. Partying is absolutely mandatory at higher levels. (after 75+ ~ 80+) Supports are a must, and are ALWAYS in high demand. By the way, snipers are the #1 solo class. I think they're only classes that never have to party. And gypsies are like hybrid dmg/support. People prefer bards when it comes to supporting, because of bragi. Gypsies are like debuffers. I haven't played for a while but I've never found a party that wanted gypsies :/

4. You can honestly run RO on anything. When I had an old computer with crappy specs I just used it for RO.
