So, anyway. I was just randomly thinking: Are there any jobs where you notice a definite gender skew? I mean, other than the obvious one. (Bards and dancers, durr.) And I'm not talking so much about players - we've all noticed that MMORPG = many men online roleplaying girls. I'm talking more about the sprites.

For example, I RARELY see female stalkers, for one. (Female rogues? All the time. Girl stalkers, on the other hand, seem to be rare.) Oddly enough, female snipers also seem to be fairly rare - every time I party one, they're wearing assless chaps as opposed to a furry skirt. Even girl high wizards aren't as common as male high wizards - which is a shame because they're cute. And then you have paladins and saders - granted, they're both fairly androgynous, but girl paladins don't seem to be as common as boy ones.

And then mastersmiths. Girl MS sprites are a REALLY rare thing.

Conversely, I think I know more female HPs than male ones. Scholars of either gender are equally common. So are sinXes, for that matter. It almost seems as if there are more girl biochems than boy ones.

Anyway, what are your observations?

On chaos when I played, the among the first three stalkers were few 'real girls'. As for girl pally...the number of times my sis or I were called 'sir'...might be more than you realise biggrin

*shrug* Could be they get browbeat into certain rolls by their guild, or only certain classes will get help (have heard 'if you make ____ everyone will help you', or one person neglected since the class they have isn't in the Guild's 'Strategic Vision'). Could be their view on the classes role, either in WoE or solo, could be as simple as hating the sprite (know a few girls that refuse classes since they look bad- hell, i had a j50 archer waiting on yuno that got deleted when the sprites were revealed).

The other day I was rambling on to a friend how there's not many female snipers compared to the insane amount of gypsite.

I see more male SinXs than female ones. :< I'm going to say Champions, Swordie-types, and Mastersmiths are the rarest kinds though.

Most girls I know either play a Priest/HP or are making one to replace as a main.

I still get annoyed by the fact that it seems like 90% of the female RO population has an FS Priest/HP as a main character. But I probably think there are more of them than there actually are due to being a frequent patron of the iwiki fanart board and ROD, where they tend to accumulate in giggling droves of kawaiipinkuloveloveness.

Funny thing is, a lot of the ones I know of didn't start out with Priests... They had Assassins, Wizards, Knights... And then gave up on leveling them just because they had to solo so much and got bored. Most girls seem drawn to RO more for its social aspects than for its gameplay, and of course Priest types are by necessity the most social classes of all.

But, I have FS High Priest. I hate myself. I have to admit though, he was FAR easier to level than my Champ and Sniper, just because he was always in demand. I can understand the allure.

As for the Biochems, I know a lot of girls who just afked to 99 on their Alchs because they think the Biochem sprite is cute. Seems to me that odds are if a girl on RO has more than one trans, she has a HP and a Biochem.

I'd like to see more female Smiths (my HP is married to a future MS. xD) and Swordie classes. I freakin' LOVE the sprites for all female Swordie classes. And its rare for me to like female sprites... The main reason I crossdress is because I can't stand the T&A parade that is 90% of the female RO sprite population. Granted male sprites show their share of fanservice in the form of bare chests, washboard abs, and tight pants, which I am of course appreciative of *cough.*

Wow, I sure am good at disparaging my own gender. *drops drawer and gets the strap-on.*

You've spent quite a long time observing this...

Mostly, I've seen tons of female Priests/HP, because of said kawaiipinkucutenesswhatever.

Snipers, every now and then, and females Stalkers because they look "fcking sexy as all h3ll".

...then again, ever take into consideration those females could be male players, and vice versa? wink
