I understand carded shields are important, but to make up for the def I could pick up a Broad Sword(slotted, ATK 140, DEF+5), and when I can afford one, a 2 slot Broad Sword. edit- sorry I'm used to post merging forums.

The defence of the broad sword will NEVER make up for the defence of a shield( 5 def is only 5% physical damage reduction, while a shield is 30% reduction from magic AND physical., you do the math). If you want to tank, its Shield + VIT no ands/ifs/or butts.

You can use a two-hander if you want to solo level, but never for party tanking, unless you want to wipe your party.

Look little miss "things can only be done one way", I'm not going for AGI knight, I'm planning on getting a lot of VIT, the sword makes up for the defense -1 DEF for not having a proper shield, and the 20-30% attack increase from weapon cards makes up for the 30% damage reduction from shield cards. I just need to know what would be good stats to accomplish it, especially how much AGI because some is needed versus VIT and STR to make good use of 2H Quicken. I could go for 100 VIT, sure I could, but it might make more sense to balance out my damage if I got 70 to 80 VIT instead. Do I have to make my own build?

You asked for "Tank" Build, tanks are supposed to soak damage not deal damage. And its not -1 DEF with out a shield, a 30% buckler is the same as having 30 defence, again do the math.

2 Hander builds are all about DPS, if you intend to be a successful tank pick up a shield.

High Vit will not make up for 30% more damage.

Dyno's IDEA isn't far out. I have a Lord Knight in pRO Valkyrie and i am an AGI LK. However, I can still tank way better than Paladins despite having 2HS. Wanna know my secret? Katzbalger + Parry lvl 10. (that's 10 DEF +5 VIT, and a 50% chance to block) Tested and proven in Bossnia event and Endless Tower Tanking. The 50% chance to block by Parry10 is very useful which also equates to 50% reduction for ALL RACES, not just the card-specific racial reduction! I dont know why so many people havent got this kind of IDEA for a very long time. Well, I also got a +7 Valkyrie Shield but it isnt that useful in other cases such as Boss Tanking.

Here's My Character Screenshot with Katzbalger. Umm, I recently lost my +7 Greaves of Flaw due to me being depressed, so i broke it while upgrading to +8. sob sob.



Another one with a magnis cap on. Notice that defense is high despite there's no shield and Boots/greaves.



I will add more SS if someone would like to have some info. Thanks Doddler for inspiring me how to play good.
