I read through the first page, and did not see anything about this $200 limit when using a credit card and going through PayPal, and what little I have seen about it, came through other users. The info wasn't always clear cut though. It might be in Gaia's best interest to explain things about this limit in greater detail.
I went to purchase a few extra letters to give out as gifts to friends, like I had earlier this month, only to be told that I had reached my limit of $200. Normally, I don't even come close to hitting a limit, but with the Holidays, the Gaia Cash and MCs seemed like great gifts to give out.
A. Is this a limit put into effect from Gaia's end, or from PayPal's end?
B. If it's on Gaia's end, how do they determine the limit and the reset date?
C. Is there a way to get that limit overridden, even if it's just a one time thing, and then it's back to the original limit?
To make things clearer.... I checked my PayPal account, and couldn't find anything that stood out and stated that I had reached any sort of limit on purchases to this site. The only thing I did see was that PayPal resets limits monthly, and on the Anniversary of the account's creation. For me, that's on the first of the month (past the Holidays, and for the Dec. MCs). I also know that I am nowhere close to maxing out my credit card. That would take a mega-power shopping trip, and even then I probably wouldn't hit that limit. So I was stumped on that one.
Based on what I do know, I understand that the limit is there for our safety, and to keep users from going spend crazy. I don't have a problem with that, and thank you for caring enough to do that, but I feel that I am old enough (trust me on that one) to determine on my own, just how much is too much.
I also know the limit is there to prevent fraudulent use of another's credit card, and I thank you for that as well. Still, I can't see why Gaia can't set up something utilizing a pass code or a pin number that would show them that the person using the card, authorizes the use of the card. I know that most credit card companies do have a way for flagging suspicious spending, and for protecting card owners against fraud, so I feel safe with using my card here.
Since I don't know the details concerning this limit, or when it gets reset, or if PayPal determines that via your PayPal account activation date, I can't tell if Saturday's problems with buying MCs may have caused a miscalculation with my account. If it goes from the first of the month, then a miscalculation just may be in play here. (I'd have to look at my order histories to determine that.)
I apologize for the length of this post, but I wanted to make sure that I was as detailed as possible. I also thank you in advance for any information or advice you can throw out to me. It would great if someone who has knowledge about this would answer it, since I want to make sure I have all of my facts straight, as opposed to having the wrong info. Thank you.
