How long do bans, fair or unfair, stay marked on your account? Since it seems like every time I come neer this thread someone finds some cheap excuse to permaban me.....

I believe I read in the past here that bans stay on an account permanently, unless by chance it was proven that the ban was completely false, then it may (or may not?) be taken off record confused

Great. That's just ducky, I get banned multiple times, rejected from the apps with no definitive yes or no (or message of any kind), banned and later told there is no ban marks on my account, and then banned two more times for "stealing" a monthly that I had a receipt for, in a trade made 2 days before the account was made. This is what I wanted to be a mod for: to prevent screwy unexplained unfairness.
So much for that. |

This is what I wanted to be a mod for: to prevent screwy unexplained unfairness. I'm not sure what you mean by "rejected from the apps with no message". Everyone who was able to fill out an app and submitted it should have received a response at this time (if you haven't then one should be forthcoming, though at this stage, only generic declines were sent out.) If you are on your 16th account, I suggest you take a strong look at your own behaviour and attitude on the site. While a single ban could possibly be attributed to moderator error, the checks and balances we have in place in our system to ensure everyone is treated fairly would never allow for 15 improperly placed bans. |

So, is the time on site pretty set in stone? I haven't been on long, but have fallen in love with Gaia, and spend a good amount of time on here. Aside from my lack of tenure I'm pretty much anything you'd want in a mod - 23, experienced in moderating, creative, intelligent, a natural peacemaker, a quick learner, neutral, technologically inclined, flexible... and I'd like to be a mod because I'd like to help keep this site clean and friendly, the kind of place I'd feel comfortable introducing young teens to. (Got a couple in mind who'd love this site, but I'm kinda wary of introducing them due to some of the content I've seen on some forums.)

We're not exactly sure what the time on the site is that they want. If anything when apps open via announcements, go ahead and try to fill one out. If you feel you have a good grasp on the site and would like to help out, it's better to just try and find out if they think you're ready.
As a note though, moderating on Gaia is not like moderating anywhere else. The site is huge, and their way of doing things may differ from past experiences. They have stated earlier in the thread that past experience isn't looked at as a big attribute (won't make or break you) when judging someone's app sweatdrop |

By the time the application reopens you may be eligible to apply - I'm not sure what the actual requirements are, but they are pretty much set in stone, as they are part of an automated filtering system - if you don't meet the most basic requirements you won't be able to submit an application. Just stay active on the site, report, post and be a good member.

I ment that I was banned, twice, once for 14 days for reporting my ex spamming screenshots of my posts on the forums (they said I was harassing her even though she was posting my posts all over)and a second not 30 seconds after the first ban was up, a permaban that nobody has been able to explain, and when I protested it, I was told to "deal with it". And only about 5 of those accounts have been banned, all the others were ababndoned due to my ex's slander (most of which is still up today). But, everyone just looks at me, and see a bi guy with 10+ accounts behind him, and think I'm a bad guy, like you hinted at. People don't look at the umpteen hundred phishers that I have taken out before the moderators were able to get to them, they have not seen the lists I have taken from the phishers of the stolen accounts and given to the mods, aiding in the recovery and prevention of misuse, they have not seen me help remove the hundreds of huge3.jpg floods that slowed the forums to a standstill following the longcat items, nor the removal of abusive pictures and banners leading to phishing sites keeping unknown ammounts safe, all without the training or tools of a moderator. People see none of those good deeds, they just see a number and assume I'm bad. All I want is to help people, and have my fair shot, and have people look at me for me instead of for my past. |
