I hate to be a bother, but it has come to my attention that there is a certain troll here on Gaia who has a strong belief that Gaia only hires *****. This user has even gone so far as to call the authorities on a former mod accusing said Mod of being a ***** simply because he or she was a moderator of Gaia. Now, I would simply love to be a moderator on Gaia; however, the last thing I need is a die hard troll breathing down my neck and shouting allegations about how I must be a ***** because I'm a Gaia Mod. How does Gaia plan on protecting their moderators from such accusations? This horrid person is going to try to sully the reputation of moderators and I have a hard time believing that Gaia is going to allow it...

Is the Gaia staff going to watch the backs of the moderators if this troll tries to attack them in real life or are moderators simply screwed? I don't want to be a mod if the upper Gaia staff is going to watch me burn by false accusations. =/ I'm just concerned and I think rightfully so.

Gaia has a zero tolerance policy for *****. As even a normal member of Gaia, any information about your account and actions can be disclosed to the authorities in an investigation. This is covered in their privacy policy. If you were a ***** you wouldn't be hired by Gaia though, and would probably be permanently banned already. Trolls are trolls and harmless and if they were to call the authorities on false standings, they would quickly be in trouble.

Remember that Gaia itself wouldn't want to look bad due to a staff member, so I see no reason Gaia would not back you up if you were clean.

Thank you Geminai. I am familiar with the policy; however, I'm just frustrated that this troll is spamming the ED, GD and LD that I know of. I've reported all his threads and avoided posting in them. I feel as though my reports are falling on blind eyes because no matter how often I report him, he comes back. I know the moderators are taking action, but is there nothing more that can be done to stop the nonsense?

Plus, it didn't help when I stumbled upon a thread dedicated to whether or not people of the ED like this troll. Many of them spoke about how he's been doing this for three years. Another spoke of how he called the authorities on him/her and while he/she is clean he/she is unable to track down the false accuser. The troll has even accused Lanzer of being a kidnapper and child molester. The troll has gone beyond freedom of speech and crossed into slander.

[Sigh] I feel like a huge arse for complaining; however, it's becoming incredibly annoying to say the least. While I am an upright USAF wife with nothing to hide, if the police come knocking on my door then you can bet the USAF will come knocking for my husband. Any allegation, even if proven false, can harm one in real life.

I had a family friend who was accused of such things and even though he was proven to be guilt free he still lost his job, had people constantly harassing him, and to this day he cannot get a decent job. It would be one thing to take me down, but my record reflects onto my husband's record as well. The military has to do background checks on both of us and if I don't check out there's a huge chance my husband won't either. I'm not about to jeopardize my husband's career over some pixels.

Please don't get me wrong. Maybe in a couple years I'll be able to re-apply without fear of being persecuted by some rampaging troll. Until that troll is gone, I simply don't want the promotion. I hope everyone is understanding of why I wish to retract my application. D= [is sadden]

He's all hot air. There is nothing this troll would ACTUALLY do, in reality, that could ever cause any sort of harm or inconvenience for you. This is just a sad person with nothing better to do. When new accounts pop up, they're banned as soon as they can be.

If you are that concerned, simply don't have any information on Gaia (profile, posts, etc) that could be used to identify you in the offline world.

Katarra: I was under the impression that he had a program that could identify one's IP address? I'm sorry to be such a pain about it, I really don't intend to come off as some whiny child.

Since this guy has been banned on other accounts and he's easily recognizable from his posts...can I simply report him because I recognize him or should I stick with the "Spam/Trolling" bit I've been doing?

He's lying, more than likely. He's just trying to scare users.

You can report him under trolling as a repeated troll - the ED mods (or whatever forum) will deal with it. 3nodding
