It seems to be broken. I have my image display set to "show all", but everything is only showing up as a link. It was working yesterday, so it seems to be a new problem.

Apparently there is a big loophole in the image blocking system.
Gaia Online is on the whitelist, of course, and has a redirecting facility! Just use the generated link as a result of blocking as the image URL. The impossible is easy! See my sig as an example. It works when "display whitelist images only" and also if I'm logged off gaia. |

And also, I find it rather disrespecting that you didn't announce this change in the announcements. It's an issue that affects every single Gaian on the website that has a sig. You announced the problem and notified us that you had blocked images from other webservers, but you didn't notify us the change about the whitelist thing, or even the option to change back to 'Show All Images' in our account options. The least you could do is have an announcement and let everyone be aware that there is a fix to the image blocking problem. Not everyone reads this thread or know where to find a topic like this. |

But you're referring to a web page -- the redirection doesn't happen automatically -- so the hole is actually not exploitable.  After analyzing this situation, I don't think images are causing the pop-up problems. Images don't let you put your user name and password on them and then send the information to a third party. A few days (or weeks ago, don't remember), someone posted a thread in this forum saying that the feature profile had this pop-up. Eventually, people investigated and concluded that a comment in the profile was causing it to appear. So, coding might be causing the problem, not images? |

It's the fact that you disabled the redirect feature that causes the image to show using the redirect path. I tried it myself. It worked. Also, as you mentioned earlier, it shows up even if you had the "Show whitelisted images" option selected. Pretty interesting. Edit 5/13 - 10:57 AM EST: I made a journal entry regarding the issue. Um.. Hi I hope you read this because it is really important. Today I was remaking my house and i bought 1 angelic bed, 1 angelic table, and one of those tree things. . but now i have two of all of those items!
I'm not using them or selling them, I just don't want to get in trouble. I don't know what happened. I'm to scared to remember. Please read this and look into it. Please. Take away the table and other items or something, I didn't do anything to make them appear that I know of. I'm really sorry, please help me. I don't know how to get a response so I guess if you have time PM me. . . Thanks for your time, Touku |
