Registration Errors
Fixed! When registering for a new account, it says "sorry, your session has timed out, please register again" Try again later, on a different computer, and be sure you try to register both ways. The front page has the flash set up to register new accounts. The original way of signing up can still be accessed; Click Here Also, when registering, the name you want for your new account will instead be renamed on to your current account. Occasionally, it will make the new account with your desired name and write over your existing account. If that happens, please use the Feedback Form to contact the Administrators. |

It will direct you to the forums instead of deleting the messages. Unable to Get Past ToS Screen question Update: A Few people still seem to be having this problem. Please PM Dri, Jakobo or darknrgy about this if you are expierencing this. (Or have someone PM for you) Unable to Edit First Post Update: This should not be affecting any newly created threads. Older threads are still in the process of being resolved. In a thread spanning multiple pages, the owner of the first post is unable to edit their topic title. This results in the inability to change to poll, along with other problems. There is no ETA on resolution of this item. Unable to edit posts in Guilds Update Aug/21/2004: Problem should be fixed. If it still has issues, PM Jakobo. Update Aug/17/2004: Occurs in the first post of threads with polls. Update Aug/11/2004: The cause of this is unknown. It should be slowly on its way to resolution. When trying to edit your post in guilds, it does not work. Possibly lag. Cannot get in to Inventory/Profile page, cannot delete Character Update Aug/21/2004: The profile servers should be a bit more stable by now, so the number of people who can't access the profile page / delete their character should be reduced. If you are unable to access your profile page, wait a few minutes, and try again. The servers that work for the Inventory page ( ruby, reinhart and dale) aren't always working. Occasionly you cannot get to your inventory page and sometimes Save Changes doesnt go through. Delete Character, however, seems not to be functioning at all. There is no fix at this time. Cannot save Changes Update Aug/11/2001: This problem seems to be occuring with large volumes of users accessing the inventory page at the same time. Users have reported accessing the server on off-peak hours has been helpful in solving this problem. When on the inventory page, you are able to preview items on your character but Save Changes times out, and doesnt save the changes. Unable to equip anything Update Aug/21/2004: Status Change to Green stare Update Aug/11/2004: Problem seems solved now. Clicking on items does nothing. Bank Lagged and/or Down Update Aug/21/2004: The bank appears to be suffering from major lag and some transactions are hanging at the second confirmation. The cause of this is being looked into. Currently the bank is not letting anyone access it. There is no fix, please wait a while and try again. Unable to use the stores Sushi_Archive message will show, preventing the store from being used. There is no fix for this. "Invalid Store Number" is the error message it will show. Archived "Please Refresh the Page." and Cookies Update: Does not seem to be occuring anymore (Aug 05). Please PM Jakobo or Dri if it does again so this can be modified. A recent code update (in an attempt to lessen the "sushi" errors) makes use of cookies in an attempt to reduce server stress until the problem is fixed completely. This error message, asking you to refresh your browser, occurs most frequently on the Gaia Main Index page, although it has also been seen elsewhere on the site. When you see this message, a simple refresh will give you the page you were looking for. |

Not Gaining Gold For the past two weeks, several users have reported they have just outright stopped gaining gold from posting and voting in polls. This problem seems to be affecting a small number of users and is 100% random. The problem is currently being worked on. Sushi Critical Errors Update: The problem causing the massive # of sushi errors has been fixed. It is unknown if the current errors (though less infrequent) are related to this. It may very well be high database load, and nothing more. Sushi is the name of the Gaia database. Recently, people have been seeing this error instead of the usual "phpbb Critical Error" and are wondering what it is. The errors are actually synonymous. The errors for "sushi" are the same errors as the phpbb Critical Errors, however, they are being generated by the new Gaia code that is more robust and has better error handling. When you get these errors, simply refresh and continue. There seems to be the most errors during Gaia Peak Hours. Update[color=white] Not Gaining Gold Since mid July, several users have reported they have just outright stopped gaining gold from posting and voting in polls. This problem seems to be affecting a small number of users and is 100% random. Gold is still obtained through clicking around the site and clicking the sponsor links on the home page. This glitch seems to be account linked rather than computer linked or random, since some users were never affected by it, some have two accounts and one earns gold while the other doesn't, and those who have this problem have it consistently... logging in and out, etc.. doesn't help it. Around the middle of August, several other gold earning glitches popped up. These vary from earning no gold for anything at all, to earning gold for lurking, but nothing else (including the sponsor banners..), getting gold only on certain servers, and several other variations. Most users are able to change servers, log out and in again, clear their internet cache, etc.. and have these problem go away. They seems to pop up randomly and intermittently. There is no fix for the first, and no sure-fire fix for the second. We just need to wait it out until this is fixed. |

Update![color=white] Lag is affecting the Bank and the Marketplace Sometimes when completing a transaction, it takes several minute up to an hour (sometimes longer) for it to fully complete. There is nothing to do to speed this up. |

darknrgy http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3512454 There seem to be a lot of misconceptions about what lag is and what it affects, so I'd like to give a technical explanation. We have several different database servers that have different roles. The main server, "sushi" is the master server, and connected to it is "sushi_slave" which is a cluster of slave servers. The purpose of this setup is to allow there to be many servers which can be read from, thus alleviating that task from the master server. When you post, the information is stored inside sushi first, and after a few seconds, the data is propogated to the slave servers. When you read a post, the data must come from sushi_slave. The problem arises when the databases get out of "sync".... ie the information is not propogated the way its supposed to. The result is that can make a post and it does not show up. Several things can cause the database to get out of sync. Data corruption, load, php bugs, mysql transaction bugs, etc. Trust me when I say there's a lot of things that can go wrong. To fix this problem sometimes its easy. We take down the site for a few minutes to let the slave servers "catch up" to the master. Other times, the slave servers refuse to do this and we have to manually copy the database from the master to the slaves, which can take hours. |

Red X's In your Inventory and in the Stores
Some peoples inventory items are showing up as an X, for some all of their items are X's, for others, it is just some items, same as for the stores. There is nothing wrong; the images just aren't loading correctly. Some users have had luck with just refreshing a few times, for others, nothing seems to work. If you wish to change clothes, just hover over the x and read what the item is. 3nodding |
