I will just have to repeat my Feedback and hope its looked into ^_^
This is a nitpicking and ankle biting type of Feedback. The Arenas is one of my fav places on Gaia.
The overall look is good, very basic and easy to follow and minimized.
Everything is given its space, and I like the stars lighting up to indicate what you voted.
I like the Search, because now I can see the Avatar before I click the link to view it!! Usually people put Keywords that never related to the Avatar, and that bugged me so much! Now I can just skip those whos keywords clearly dont show what I am looking for! ^_^
Everything loads up alright, no misplaced images. I havent tried the Search feature yet, so I will edit when I get to try that out. The new comments work, and the speed at which they appear are nice. I am unsure about having old comments on the next page though, I guess I am just use to how the current Arena does that.
The new "report as spam" is a blessing. With the lack of a Captcha, I HOPE that botting will not become a problem with the new Arena? It would be nice to explain why there isnt one, and how the new Arena stops botted comments.
I think the placement of the Description box is nice, its at the Bottom so you eyes can catch it, instead of ignoring it.
Internet Connection
o-=So far the new Arena set up hasnt effected me too much, but you seriously need to consider people who have lower speed connections. Especially when it comes to the House page...the loading is ridiculous!
Rules for the Arenas
o-=This is confusing, they only show up if I click the "Rate Button" and currently there are no Avatar or Home submissions, so I can not see their rules! Please change the submission rules to its own Tab or something far more noticeable. The current Arena has a Splash page that you click which Arena you want to view, how about placing another Splash page, and having the rules of each Arena under its respective icon?
Commenting/Voting
o-=Is this fixed now ( "you already voted for this _____" ) ?
After you made a mistake of voting too fast. I never understood that.
If my vote was too fast it should not be counted for the entry, and I should be able to re-vote on it without penalty on the entry and myself.
Sorry, I am doing this on assumption, since I have not run into this. So I hope everything is working.
o-=The Popular box (IMO) needs to be removed. There is no need for that, and I dont think devs get how Downvoting works if they added that. Of course this is the Bad side of the Arena by Users, but I just dont know about replacing the Spotlight with a Popular voting box.
Avatar Arena
o-=Black Background isnt going to compliment "Black Themed" Avatars. That means Avatar entries that wear a lot of black items and clothing, will have a hard time standing out. We need something more neutral, and White did that, but if you do not want White, go with a Grayish blue, or even test out the Coco Brown (the color of the Forums Background).
o-=Increasing the size of the Avatar is a bad move and I dont understand why it was done. A lot of people who do Concept Avatars will be at a disadvantage. These Avatars gather various items and it end up creating a unique type of look for the eyes. Some people can get things to look like (for example) a Painting or a Forest.
Avatars look good when they are in regular size. The pixels blend into one another. Having things blown up, takes that away and you can see everything!
At least consider a slightly smaller size, in between big and little.
o-=The "My Inspiration" image box...
Is far too tiny to show off what the inspiration is. Unless you make it a click enabled option or increase the size to 300x300 or 400x400. What is being shown is too hard to see, and people will end up linking out the picture in comments, or (if possible) code the picture there.
Art Arena
o-=so everything is linking Directly to the Users Image account?
If so, if the person decides to move, rename, or delete the picture. Then it seems like the image is broken.
What if the person wins? Must they keep that link up forever?
o-=The submission size, well I got to check this out more. It seems like pictures end up distorted even if they stay within the guide line of 640. Pictures that need width to be seen, seem to be getting this problem.
House Arena
o-=Are people who won the House Arena previous times, going to get their Prizes?
I never entered so that isnt the issue. I think it would just be a nice thing to reward people who have entered and won previously.
o-=I liked it when it was a Screen shot I was voting on, or how ever it worked. At least it worked ^_^;; and it loaded fast. Having to load a Flash of a large house is just not appealing. Its slow and grinding and at times Flash/Java can fail. I really want to vote and view this place but the resources it needs to be viewed is too much.
o-=I cant tell if the House is loading from memory like the Avatar, or if it is loading currently. Which means, if the person who entered has a house, is the Flash loading the new house every time the person changes things around?
o-=Then you got the Winning Circle -_-;;
loading 10 Tiny Houses at once is (once again) a slow process. If this Flash thing is going to remain, at least consider having two pages for the House winners. 5 on one page and 5 on the other. Or turn the circle into a Screen shot, that way I can view the Detail of the House if I choose to
