Ok got a chance to muck with it for a bit... keep in mind I'm talking strictly from the Art Arena point of view as I have no interest in the other two arenas (sorry, just honest).
I don't mind the black background. It's actually relatively standard (we quite often used black boards for mounting work in school) though for pieces with transparencies I think white is better.
Voting on a 5 star system will take some adjusting. For me 3 stars would be average and 5 would be perfect (very rare) but it feels like there should be a whole world of difference between 3, 4, and 5 stars... Perhaps if we could use 1/2 star increments?
And I haven't been able to find any evidence of updates to the rules and I have seen people asking for "realism" to be allowed. Where as I think technically it is as long as it fits the themes allowed, I do agree that broadening the themes allowed might be nice. Not that Gaia is an art gallery like DeviantArt (also the reason why I think people should suck it up and get a Photobucket rather than ask Gaia to host the art neutral ). It's just, I don't personally do fan art, or anime style work, or much fantasy anymore so pretty much all I ever feel fits in the arena is any of the avatar art I do. That's fine but it might be nice to share the plethora of other work I do.
I also enjoy the browse feature as opposed to the "skip to a random" that the arena already has. 3nodding
