i really like the new look. it fits better with the overall site and it feels more up to date. my only real concern is that the point system went down from 0-10 to a 1-5 system. i really rather prefer the 0-10 system.

still, great job guys! it looks awesome!

Looks great so far. Ok, the Avatar arena is empty, but from the preview provided in the announcement, I think you should keep the avatar to their original size. Making it bigger makes it look all blurry.

the new layout is intresting... but a little un-user friendly. To be frank please simplify it or make a tutorial... also the thumbnails in the art arenas view all feature are too small to make a decision off of...

P.s. it would be helpful to have a next button or a go-on to make viewing quick and easy.

It took 30 seconds to figure out. It's very self explanatory.

One thing I noticed.. you can see stuff that hasn't been approved yet. That's SUCH a terrible idea. There's already people posting pictures they found on the internet and we're going to have someone post porn/gore there. Please have anything that hasn't been approved yet hidden. Unfortunately, we can't really trust people not to abuse it.

I like the old rating system better. Which stuff like art and avies a simple 5-star ratting doesn't cut it. A piece can easy be not quite four stars not not quite five. If you don't think it's good enough the be for or five, but not as neutral as a three, you can get stuck on what to chose really easily. That's happened to me twice out of the two pieces I voted on before coming here.

Also, bots can easily roam free again, the annoying word things are gone, though I suppose you thought about that already.

Over all I give the new arenas 6/10. If rated in stars I'd say 2/5.

Dear Gaia Staff,

Very good! I'm impressed. The arenas are much cleaner and up-to-date than before. The layout is nicely organized, and it is not hard to navigate like before. And I wholeheartedly enjoy the splitting of the Art arena into three, it gives specified artists a chance to win. However, I noticed that digital painting is still included in the Painting and Drawing arena. Would it be possible to split that into two arenas: digital and traditional painting? This is an anime/manga based site, and most of the users would lean towards those paintings, which are usually digital. I am not bashing these submissions, I have seen some that take just as much skill as traditional paintings, however I cannot deny that traditional paintings will probably not be favored. Maybe you don't have to split the arenas, but please find some other way to give traditional paintings an equal footing in voting as digital painting.

I like the new beta system, however it would be nice if you clicked on the "Browse Popular" tab and then select a photo, then when that photo comes up, you would still be on the "Browse Popular" tab. The way it is now it goes back to "Browse Recent". And I also think 1/2 stars would offer better and more precise ratings.

I already see a problem with the "popular browse " esp. for the avi arena {since it is high competiton in there}. This will only encourage people to down vote even more then they aleady are. If it is the same as how spotlight works then please change the words to spotlight.

Very good!!!!! Easy to use. Now just about everyone can show off whatever talent they have! biggrin

It's nice to be able to post photography now which I'm better at than most other art forms. (I hope people like wildlife!!)

Posting is easy
Commenting is easy (although comments like "1st Post" aren't exactly useful--but at least I know someone looked at it biggrin )
Rating is easy
Faving is easy

The only thing I have yet to figure out is how to watch people.

BTW-I don't mind having use 100 gold to post either! mrgreen

Maybe there should be a button to report postings-like on many art sites. You'd have to provide proof like if it's stolen-the URL from where it was taken from. etc.
