when did the "[band] saved my life" trend start? because when i was a kid nobody ever said this.

i blame it on nirvana in the early 90s...parents of the "me generation"(80s) had neglected/sad children who found catharsis within the loathing misanthropic lyrics and nirvanas popularity had them reach exponentially more kiddies than any angst/mal-adjusted band had hitherto
