Hello and welcome to another exciting event with the GCD Gift Giving Bonanza!!
It's Fun! It's Easy! It can really give you a tickle!
Simply, using the Gift Giving option on items in your inventory, and setting them to "give anonymously", the gifts you decide to give are given out to people you choose and you get to add a little message as well. This gives the possibility of aliases, and other fun stuff like what happened last year and the year before that. Understand? It doesn't need to be anything big, but that's always a bonus for people who need to brighten up their day.
Some Fun Ideas:
- Aliases: They are fun, especially when you add fun little quirks to each personality you create! Creative messages can really brighten a person's day!
-Gift Avis: This idea took us by storm in 2008 and the GCD and Avatar Chat forums were overrun with ridiculously dressed avis. It also helps give people an idea of what silly thing they can gift you with if, say, your avi has a crazy top but no pantaloons!
Why do we gift anonymously/under an alias?
Because we are not here to get thanks or be admired. We're here to have fun and let the good times roll!
Now for some ground rules:
-Contests and dice rolls should be held in their own thread! Contests tend to distract from the gift-giving spirit and bring in greedies. We want to have fun, not bicker over who gets what!
-Please, please, PLEASE do not post the number of gifts you have sent or received!
-No whining! Nobody likes a Sad Sally or a Mopey Mindy. Be happy with the neat people you will meet!
-No Begging. It's annoying. No one wants to be bombarded with "ZomG! Leik, can I hev ur kiki PLz! I wuz teh hax0rd!"
-Be courteous and grammatically correct PLEASE! Post a thank you for your gifts.
-Please do not stretch the page!
-No flaming!
-Keep conversation rolling. Lots of people get turned off to threads when there's an entire page worth's of bumps! Keep the bumping to a minimum, or just don't do it!!!
Finally, have fun! It's not about whether you get a rare MC or a paper hat. This event is about having fun and brightening the day of the people around you! Not everything had to be a wishlist item, but not everything should be your leftover bugs or house items you don't want. Let's just have an awesome time and be kooky!
Also, anyone who would like to create a logo or art or anything for the GCD Gift Giving Bonanza, please do so! We would love to see your ideas!
