- ▸ ▸Okay, I'm still a bit confused, probably because coding is difficult for me with all the blar, blar, blar stuff. emotion_facepalm I decided against that gif background I showed you and went basic black, now I have two more issues, still with the groveshark and with other media. Here is the profile thus far.
1) When I put it on gaia, will it look like that but with the gaian header thingie at the top? If so, how can I make that smaller, I like the size, but I think it might be too big.
2) Under "gaian stuff," i plan to put my friendlist under "level 2", like the actual thing, there? Is that even possible? Also, with the friends thing I'm having a bit of a difficult time understanding how to add my friend's avatars to the profile, while allowing it to be on the wix itself not away from it. I tried doing that myself on my mule but it whined up being off to the side.
3) Under "media" and "media2" I want to add a few videos to the profile, not to play, in a coverflow (what you see on "media2" ) but I can't seem to do it. Is it possible? (I only want ONE media page)
4) I would like my grooveshark playlist to be under the "extra" part of my profile so that it can play with the ipod thingie there. I already had converted for gaia (in the spoiler) but I don't think I totally understand how to do it.

1. We can definitely re-size the Wix by modifying the code the converter gives you, or you can re-size it in the Wix editor and then just use the default code. Modifying the code for this particular purpose is pretty easy and I can help you with it if you give me an idea for how wide you want it to be. (in pixels is preferable, but in any case just try to be more descriptive than "a little bit smaller" )
2. See TL;DR below. Basically, stuff like this has to go outside, not inside, the Wix.
3. I don't really understand what you're asking for here ):
While I know a lot about CSS and Gaia-side profile handling, I have actually spent very little time using the Wix editor itself, so I won't be much use helping you figure out how to structure the page using their editing tools, sorry!
4. This is basically the same problem as #2 and will also be in the TL;DR.
Basically you have to use the Wix-provided media tools, or add the media completely separately.
TL;DR - or, Wix is static and why that sucks:
(for less long, read the FAQ 2.x section, Other Wix Issues, it covers most of this)
First off, let's start with what I mean by static vs dynamic content.
Static content is like a simple JPEG image, or some text that you wrote for like your about section.
This content does not change at all once it has been created unless you go manually change it, say, by editing your about.
Dynamic content, on the other hand, can change without your direct input.
On Gaia, things that are dynamic include avatars (change when you change your outfit), your friends list (change when friends get added/deleted, but you don't actually go and update the list yourself), comments (change when someone makes a new one), etc.
When we're talking about Wix, things that aren't quite dynamic the way I mean it here but encounter the same issues when used on Wix include GIF images (if I remember right Wix doesn't like these, but maybe they fixed that? it was a long time ago) and external media players, like Grooveshark.
Flash Wix - as we use it at least - really only supports static content.
What that means is that once you have saved and gotten your code for the Wix, literally nothing about it will ever look any different unless you go manually update it.
If you add your avatar, Wix actually makes a copy of that image and adds it to the page, so when you change your avi, the image does not update.
This goes the same for like your wishlist or friends list. You could manually create them in the Wix, but since they aren't truly linked to Gaia they will not update.
And since the Wix is a self-contained Flash area, you can't just force the actual Gaia profile sections into the Flash area.
(you can force things like avatars added with the Gaia profile avatar tool to be on top of the Wix, but internal Wix stuff like the navigation buttons will not affect them at all so they will always be in the same spot no matter what you click on in the Wix, so people usually only do this if they have a single-page Wix or if they save a spot for the avi on each page)
The media is pretty much the same since you can't import external players into the Wix.
While we're here, I'll mention that Wix does (or did at least) support a way to ""import"" HTML into a Flash page. What this really did though was just add HTML to the user.wix.com/blah page that was handled in a specific way. Since the HTML doesn't get added to the Flash file itself, it gets stripped away when we convert it for use on Gaia. (Gaia doesn't allow user-inserted HTML)
You can sort of work around this in some ways by creating a layout that includes a Wix in a media panel as well as other Gaia-side panels like your friendslist, wishlist, comments, or additional medias.
Those additional panels will always be completely outside of the Wix though, and you have to play with CSS to get everything to play nice, which to some people defeats the purpose of using a generator - not having to write code.
(this is especially important when adding additional media panels, as the default code makes all of them the same size as your Wix)
I am willing to help you to some extent to get things work if you go this route, but you'll have to be very specific in what you want and be willing to wait a while for responses n_n'

- ▸ ▸This coding is crazy classified_fu . I tried it out myself and I think I just hurt myself. I WAS able to put the wix code INSIDE of a media box, but it was sooooo tiny!
1) I think I'm just gonna stick with the size I have. It's...okay, I would like it to fit to the screen, but you only have to scroll down a wee little bit so I think it should be fine. But, in case I do...how would I find out the size of the profile anyways?
2) I tried to play around with it but the wix profile COVERS the other media panels. I don't see how I can add my friendlist and stuff there, without the wix being on top of it. I can always keep my wishlist on a thread.
3) Okay, so basically, here's the issue: I want VIDEOS from youtube, on my wix profile. I see how to do that, but I want them to be on a coverflow (much like this) where people can flip through the youtube videos. I already have them on the profile, but if wix doesn't allow me to use the coverflow (which I can't seem to be able to work with in any way) then I'll just leave it.
4) I'm not entirely sure if I understand all the technicalities, but are you basically saying that I cannot add the grooveshark playlist to this ipod thing? That the avatars cannot be ON the wix (to update) but could possibly be around it? I think I'm mostly content with the profile as far as looks and size, and the only thing I have left to truly fix are my media and adding my friends.
I can wait as long as you need, but hopefully, I can get it done by the fifth. emotion_facepalm Sorry if I'm not making sense, I've never worked with one of these and I know if I try to get someone else to do it (which I doubt I'll find) it'll never been done the way I truly want it done. ._.
Edit: or maybe there's a way I can get a visible player all the way at the bottom of the profile so people and pause or whatever? I've seen that on peoples profiles but I'm not sure if it were YouTube or something else.
