EDIT : Ive almost done, theres only the section positions i have to get right, How do i work out how many pixels from the side and top and stuff? also i need to make the add, msg and trade parts clickable. is there any way to work out the pixels?
I tried photoshop for that but its turned out all dodgy.. also, how do i center my comments? they are all off to one side :S

I love this guide. I already know about CSS and have designed sites, profiles, and such, but this tutorial really made the way Gaia has the old school profiles make sense and stick. The visual aids are insanely helpful, especially the ones about which classes correspond to parts of the page. The Youtube vid's nice too.

Your guide inspired me to design another profile for myself! biggrin

I never you had a guide like this until now. I also didn't realize you could customize colors for your YouTube media player. surprised This guide is nicely done (and thoroughly complete). I wished I saw this guide when I first started on Old School coding.

In your sample profile code, you're missing a semi-colon under the header image section which causes the header to stay the same, and the border to not be removed.

@Phunked :: I can't answer all your questions, but I'm trying. xD

1) The first one positioning is all trial and error. I know some people use a toolbar to help them
with positioning, but you just pretty much estimate.

2) I have no idea how to do status bars. There are codes out there with other threads. I would
implement that within the guide, but it would have to wait.

3) With your comments, just position them. If it goes a bit to the left or right, just move it in place.


I'm sorry I'm not that much help this time. xD I usually create custom sections to do my buttons. Dx

Gah, it's been well over a year since I touched any CSS I'm rusty at this so I read the guide for review but I have some questions. x___x;;

I was attempting to build the CSS for my layout last night and I encountered a problem with my content section. My content section stopped automatically adding more space at the bottom as I moved sections lower down on the page. It now only adds more space when I move my comments section down. Now my custom section just falls right off the content area and the about section gets chopped off.

I'm amending my first question since I seem to have figured out part of the problem. The content section only seems add more space when I move non-custom sections down the page. Is there a way to make it add more space when I move my custom sections lower down the page? Also it appears my About section has gotten tied together with my Comments section. x__x When I tell the About section to move down the comments section move with it.

I combed through the code several times and tried a few things as I attempted to fix it but nothing helped. If someone could please help explain what I did wrong I would appreciate it.

I think some people already made Version 2 guides. To convert Old School to Version 2 involves a small change in the header.

My guides would be too complicated for most people to understand. Just like my profile, it would probably take forever to make as well xd
