Welcome to Gaia! ::

Isn't it obvious, ninja Sendoku is the lead Polar Bear who commissioned you guys in the first place. How else would she have the inside info of the staff.

1. Sendoku
This is the website most suitable for a business. It has many customer-friendly attributes, such as the "Contact Us" box and the "Latest Products" updates. It has an innovative design and is accessible for most users. My main suggestion if this were to be turned into a real website would be to move the navigation links up so they are more visible to users. But even in this state, it already seems like a real business' website. :]

2. Catastrophii

This one seemed the most innovative and creative to me. However, the website is much too big. Business-oriented websites should be a standard resolution size so they can be accessible to the most customers. This website would not be accessible to a lot of customers. So while I like the idea, it is not suitable for a business.

3. Cali Soca
I'm really not a fan of your cutesy vectors on a professional website. The penguin is okay, but the mini-you is..eh. I really like how the actual smoothie came out. I think it's okay for you to have the vectors, but you should try to incorporate real photos as well. This is supposed to emulate a real business website, and if you don't have any real pictures of the product, the product will lose credibility.

Don't get me wrong; I think it's a fine design. However, I don't think it relates to the theme exceptionally. You chose to represent the company as a smoothie business. Therefore, the site should reflect themes of a business. And it does have some of those elements, like the "Contact Us" box. The problem is that it seems more like a personal website than a professional website. And that's not what the point of this round was supposed to be.

Also, I would recommend moving the content up. The space provided for the mountains and snow is unnecessary. It just wastes space. If it were there for aesthetics, it would be fine, but it's not really improving the look of the website at all. I actually think it would look better without it.

Once again, it's not a bad website. I just don't feel as though it represents the theme exceptionally well. Of course, part of that is that the theme was a bit cryptic and the round was one difficult to partake in. The next one will probably be better. :]

RADIOOBEAUTYQUEENFROMAMOVIESCENE

1st: Sendoku : I'm in love. It seems like the most professional, and the layout and theme fit the product he chose well. I love the colors and all the details, down to the fact that he even has some made-up employees, lol.

2nd: Catastrophii : Professional but adorable. I love the gradients, the rainbows, and the popsicle is so cute. The only thing that really irks me is that there's a horizontal scroll on my resolution. Also, the white text over the rainbow is a tad bit hard to read.

3rd: Cali Soca : Another one where I think the theme matches the product well. I could easily see buying a Slushie with these cute designs all over the cup. The only problems I have are that, on my smaller resolution, the header is big enough that I don't see ANY of the content when opening the page. Also, nitpicking, but I think the sections would look nice with a bit more padding.

THAT IS ALL.

GOOD JOB, BBYS.

First off, I'd to start by saying congrats on all the fail. Especially to those that didn't even attempt it. Just because something is new and challenging, does not mean you should back out. And don't give me those bullshit excuses. (Unless you had to attend Billy Mays funeral.)

Anyways, here are my picks.

1. Sendoku
Excellent use of graphics and colors. Making the site interesting and nice to view. 2 Errors in CSS validation, but those are understandable, seeing how I didnt provide a container for the entire site. Nice job Senny.

2. Cata
Great graphic and concept. Once again, nice colors. However, site is 1326px wide. Also, there were 4 errors in CSS Validation, but once again, understandable. Excellent job Cata.

3. Cali
Nice vectors. Cool concept. The text in the speech bubbles could use some padding. No errors in CSS Validation however. Good job.

Finally, I'd like to congratulate everyone that did participate. Your entries were not as fail I thought they might be. However, keep in mind that should you ever be commissioned to design a website, the HTML and CSS would have to be created from scratch. Which means no framework, no css markers to help you out.

your website is just stunning, you captured it wonderfully.
I love the colors, really nice and smooth on the eyes, Love the extra mile you went with the naming of the people.
The latest products is a major plus too.

The few things I don't really like:
the tweet being larger than the news
and the contact us is just a bit wonky for me.

2.Cata
your colors are amazing, the ice cream bar is fantastic, the whole site is minimilistic, but oh so good.
Smooth and glossy and very fresh, the only problem is of course the scroll, and the text by the ranbow part.
other than that your design is amazing.

3.Cali
I love your concept, it's cute and adorable, just what a slushie site should be.
the content seems to actually overlap some of the sections they should fit into, and I'm not to wild about the shadows of the contact boxes,
other than that I think it's a simple cute design, I'd like to see if anything some more detail placed on the vectored characters, I think then it would be amazing.

    Wow.
The results were kind of creepy.
    xd
We are 10x more psychic than normal.

im a little upset that so many people backed out of the competition. Five contestants is kinda depressing.

I think my round will be easier. surprised
    It's fairly simple.
But not something I've seen created from PD regs.
    So it's still interesting. biggrin

We were not allowed honorable mentions.
And your use of 0 images was unimpressive. Nor was it required or asked.

Nice job on the validating though.

probably because when you're making a website for someone,
graphics/overall aestheticism is the #1

Err...not really :B

Usability is actually more important then aesthetics.

nah, I find it amusing because I was SO slack with this round...like, my whole design took me 40 minutes, cause I had no ideas :B

The idea I have had since...I will do to my profile instead :B

Usability is more important, but aesthetics are important still. A great designer should be able to incorporate both. :B

If the website is for a business, the website should represent the business. Your website didn't represent anything. If I recall, there was not even a name. Even if there was a name, a bland appearance will still compel users to view the company's product in a lesser light. Like if I see a bad website for a college, I usually won't consider that college for my applications list.

The website should adequately represent the business it was created for. Yours didn't. :B
