Sound Cloud on your Gaia Profile
I've never made a guide before and I doubt this is a guide, but it seems nobody had the answer to this and I'd like to share it with you guys.
What is Soundcloud
♦"SoundCloud is an online audio distribution platform which allows musicians to collaborate, promote and distribute their music." - Wikipedia
♦Basically it's a website where aspiring musicians may post/promote their creations, or as the website calls it their "sounds"
♦Many of the posted tracks are freely downloadable as well.
♦You may comment on the website on certain parts of tracks, as well as the artists page themselves.
♦Beside that being all amazing for artists, for listeners it's cool too! It's unique music rather than Lady Gaga, or Bieber. Usually you will find remixes of them, which makes them pretty neat.
♦My own personal favourite feature is the playlists that can be found by the artists, such as portfolios.
♦You cannot however, take singular tracks from the website and create your own playlist alike to other media players.
How to install a Soundcloud Playlist
Previously the track could of been simply taken from the source code, however Soundcloud has updated it making the track harder to find.
A newer and more simple method is using the Wordpress share option & inserting a the playlist link into the gaia appropriate code.
EXAMPLE:
Go to Soundcloud and go to any playlist you like, select share and copy the wordpress code.
You will have something like..
[soundcloud url="http://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/13133785" params="" width=" 100%" height="166" iframe="true" /]
You may have "playlist" rather than tracks as well, this will require you to remove the "s" in the http before adding it in the formula below. Please contact for help, /playlists/ seems to be buggy. ??
All we need is the api.soundcloud link - http://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/13133785
Using the api.soundcloud link from the wordress code insert it into the Gaia playlist format below
http://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=INSERTPLAYLISTLINKHERE&color=3b5998&auto_play=true&show_artwork=false
Resulting in..
http://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/13133785&color=3b5998&auto_play=true&show_artwork=false
Now with this code, you can post it into the Media section in your Profile.
If you want it to repeat endlessly add &loop=1 to the end.
For a mini player...
http://p1.soundcloud.com/player.swf?auto_play=true&color=000000&referer=&show_artwork=false&default_width=1&default_height=1&theme_color=ffffff&url=INSERT THE API.SOUNDCLOUD Link here!
Example: ♥♥♥
Below is a code which can be added to the end of your profile theme to hide the media player. Thanks to Di Inferi on page 8!
.media_panel {visibility: none; position: absolute; left: -4000px;}
If you need more help, PM and I could even just give you the link if you cant figure it out.
Just send me the playlist link you want.
Hope that helped.
