I always made my profiles 800x600, thinking that even on a tiny resolution it would be unscrollable. I just now realized that most of the time, that size won't even fit a 1024x768 resolution without needing to scroll down.

I personally run 1280x1024 on my 19' monitor, how about you guys? Does this affect the way you create profiles?

Yeah. Resolution. Same problem. I did view your profile and I have to scroll down and tried it on my brother's computer and fit just right. It does affect in making profiles since my creation just doesn't work well in other computer... Specially to those with lower resolution computer monitors.

It affects every single one of my profiles.

Now if I'm making a profile that I don't want scrolling, I lower y resolution down to it's lowest possible number, before starting.

At least that way it will fit a little better.

1280*1024 on a "17 here...

I personally run a 1680x1050 on my 20" iMac.
I generally make sure my profiles at least fit 1024x768 because I haven't seen a lot of people using 800x600.

That's what mine will be in a week or so. cool

But right now, 1440x900 or something.
The max width of my profiles are always 760px. I'm starting to wonder if that's a little too small. >>

not accepting any profile commissions atm

I use 1024x768 like the most people, i think so it's not a very big problem with the resolution. but i got a few comments from person with higher resolution, that the sections a completely at the wrong place and i don't know how to solve the problem... it's difficult to make a profile everyone can see correctly sweatdrop

I use a 1400x900 resolution. I don't think it affects the way I make profiles because I usually try to have them within 750-800px of height so that they fit on 800x600 and/or 1024x768 resolutions.

I do however think that a small resolution can be a problem if you are unaware of a need for a body background. I used to have a profile where the body background didn't blend well because I couldn't see it. I've seen some other profiles with the same problem.

1280x800 here on 12" (so tiny!!)
as some of you already said, when I did make profiles, I tried to make them not bigger than 800x600

profile hiatus <3

I have a 1280x1024 17' monitor.
I never design my profiles larger than 900px wide. Height depend son the content I use.
Since 1024x768 is apparently the most common screen res, I feel comfortable making some larger stuff time to time.
A lot of people have stopped using 800x600.
Of course its still good to have a site that fits on small screens.

I find the issue is that in a web browser, it really cuts the height with the adress bar and whatever tool bars you have on top of it. Ive got the webdev toolbar, a bar filled of my bookmarked sites, and then the tabs bar.. that's about 150px off the top, and then there is the start bar and bottom of the browser at the bottom, probably about 40px. That's nearly 200px, on a 1024x768 res, you have 768px for height, now you are looking at around 568 height.. It's pretty ridiculous to try and build a profile that's less than 550px tall, but in my eyes profiles look best when they are centered and fit without scrolling.

Ah well, I don't have to scroll when I view my profile, that's all I really care about xd I'm just surprised that so many of you are still on 1024x768.. I can never go back to that, it seems so ridiculously zoomed.
