How do I get the picture in my profile to A. not be cut off at the corners and B. remain fixed while the boxes on top of the background scroll? (I hope that makes sense.)

Everything I've tried so far hasn't worked.

a) it appears that's built into the picture... so you'd have to find a new picture.

b) it looks fixed to me....

A: That's strange. It truly is bigger on two sides. I was working with it in photoshop even.

B: It's fixed to the top. I want it to remain seen even when one scrolls down. (I hope I explained myself better this time. sweatdrop )

hehe I think my mistake was in using the word "fixed."

Okay, I've gone through and found a random profile with something similar to what I want Here.

See the piece of a picture in the far right and how it isn't moved when you scroll? I want that....except in the main part of my bg. whee

My bad luck you just bumped it so this post can't even contribute that much >>;;

Anyway I figured something out all by my self...well not really (using your codes), but I did figure something out in V.2. While using .panel{background: #------;} to make everything the same color there were these two panels that did not change color. I was about to do a backflip in agony when I noticed I accidently did not belete two codes #panel_5720711, #panel_5731915 {background: #------;} and thus I had another color.

I thought it was cool I could have the code to color each panel and simultanously use a code to color each panel separately. Thats what I figured out, in only five minutes too. I felt SMRT....I mean SMART!

Well have fun, I'll keep borrowing your codes and making my profile bigger and bigger rofl

yep smile everything is a panel, so you can apply things to all panels, but then using the extra ID you can make panel specific stuff smile I do that with a few panels in my profiles because some of them I don't want to have the little stars or to have headers xd

I'm back. > wink

Two glitches this time, one Internet Explorer-only:

1. I used images for the section headers, and they aren't centering themselves. They are all 500 x 30 px, because they usually center automatically. How do I fix this?

2. In IE, some of the sections aren't as wide as the others in their column, even when the coding gives all the sections in each column the same width. I have screen caps. What would be a remedy for this?

Here is the live preview.

Thanks. whee heart

CSS is probably the coolest thing to use to customize your profile, with either the Old School or v2 profile system. CSS is such a powerful tool when it comes to any sort of design... pretty much if you can think of it, you can do it.

With Gaia Profiles, you are doing CSS overrides. What this means is that you are building CSS based on what CSS the Gaia devs have already defined. This makes it a little harder, because there's only so much you can work with, but you can still do alot with it, and make some pretty awesome looking profiles, using either system.

In all honesty, the v2 system is a little harder to work with if you're used to the Old School system, but it is still possible to do alot with it. And it all may seem overwhelming at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's all pretty easy to use and work with. Hopefully, with the help of this guide, you'll be able to whip out great looking, original profiles in no time at all, using either system.

There are two places in which you can place your CSS override code. With the Old School system, you'll put your code in the "Theme" section on the Gaia Profiles Backend (as shown on page one of this guide). With the v2 system, you'll put your code in the CSS tab of the "Theme" section in the profile itself (as shown on page two of this guide).

Each system uses the same basic ideas and general terms, but the actual code for the classes and IDs are different. What this means is that you can't code a profile in the Old School system and use that same code on the v2 system, and vice versa. Currently, the v2 system has a "Convert" button that takes CSS designed for Old School and roughly converts it to something that will work in v2. Unfortunately, it doesn't do a very good job, but it gets some stuff like the page's background and link colors. In all honesty, you can probably do a better job yourself just by referencing this guide xd Once you know the differences between the two systems, it's possible to take a simple skin and "translate" it to the other system's code in about 15-20 minutes.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them in the thread. Be as specific as you can about the problem you're having, what you've already tried, and what you just don't get. If I can't figure out what you mean, I might just not reply xd

AND DON'T PM ME OR POST IN MY COMMENTS PLEASE.

I simply won't respond to questions asked to me not in this thread xp
